Yvonne Carol Nolan is a British Labour politician and former Leader of Wirral Council. [2]
She was first elected to Wirral Council in 1987 to Moreton ward beating three time incumbent Conservative David Williams. [3] She became Leader of the Council and Leader of the Labour group once Labour gained a significant minority at the 1990 election. Although Labour gained control of the council in 1991,Nolan lost her seat to Conservative Ann Dishman by 1,200 votes.
In 2018,she was selected as the Labour candidate for the Rock Ferry beating the incumbent of 28 years,Chris Meaden. [4] Meaden stood against Nolan but lost by 185 votes. [5]

The Metropolitan Borough of Wirral is a metropolitan borough of Merseyside,in North West England. It has a population of 321,238,and encompasses 60 square miles (160 km2) of the northern part of the Wirral Peninsula. Major settlements include Birkenhead,Wallasey,Bebington,Heswall,Hoylake and West Kirby. The city of Liverpool faces the northeastern side of Wirral over the Mersey.
Birkenhead is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2019 by Mick Whitley of the Labour Party.
Wirral West is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament by Margaret Greenwood of the Labour Party since 2015. A former bellwether seat.
