Kurigam is a village in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is the nearest village from main town of Qazigund. Deepthi Jeevanji is an Indian para-athlete from Telangana. She takes part in the women’s 400 meters T20 run. She was selected for the Indian team that took part in the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Para Games. She won the gold medal with a new Asian Para record and the Games record on 24 October 2023. She clocked a time of 56.69s to take the gold ahead of Thailand’s Orawan Kaising. Japan's Niina Kanno won the bronze.

Afreen Hyder is an Indian taekwondo practitioner from Srinagar, Kashmir, India. Hyder has been an All India Rank 1 holder and has previously been ranked among the top 100 female Taekwondo athletes in the world. As of December 30, 2023, she is ranked 200th in the senior division women's 62 kg World Kyorugi rankings. Hyder is the first female taekwondo athlete from Kashmir.
