Zakariah Barie (born 29 May 1953) is a retired Tanzanian long-distance runner who specialized in the 10,000 metres.
He won the silver medal at the 1982 Commonwealth Games, finished thirteenth at the 1984 Olympic Games. He also competed at the 1980 Olympic Games and the 1983 World Championships without reaching the final.
He studied at the University of Texas at El Paso.

The UTEP Miners is the name given to the sports teams of the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). They are informally referred to as the Miners, UTEP, or Texas–El Paso. UTEP was a member of the Western Athletic Conference from 1967 to 2005, when they joined Rice, Tulsa, and SMU in leaving the WAC for Conference USA. The UTEP Miners are best known as the first team in Texas to win an NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. UTEP's colors are orange and blue and the mascot is a miner named Paydirt Pete.

Donald Suxho is an Albanian-American professional volleyball player and a player for the US Olympic Team. As a setter, he participated in the 2004 Olympic games in Athens, Greece as well as the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Suxho and his family came to America in 1996 and lived in Natick, Massachusetts while searching for a college. He eventually chose to play for the University of Southern California and became one of the most well-known volleyball players to come out of USC.

James Igohe is a Tanzanian Olympic middle-distance runner. He represented his country in the men's 1500 meters at the 1984 Summer Olympics. His time was a 3:39.62 in the first heat, and a 3:41.57 in the semifinals. James Igohe was an employee of the Tanzania Immigration department as an Athete. Through his runnings, he secured a scholarship to El Paso Texas University together with other then athletes like Alfredo Shahanga and Zakaria Barie Bura. However, since he went to El Paso Jimmy abandoned his carrier and never returned to Tanzania. He is currently working in New Jearsy at Intellectualy Disabled children as a caretaker.
