Zard Patton Ka Bunn is a 2024 Pakistani television series which is directed by Saife Hassan and written by Mustafa Afridi. It was produced by Momina Duraid of MD Productions with Kashf Foundation. Sajal Aly and Hamza Sohail played the leads in the series. Majorly set in a rural background, the series chronicles the journey of a remote village girl to becoming the first doctor of her village. It focuses on issues such as family planning and its impact on women's health, [1] and women's education. [2]

Plot

Maymoona Khanum aka Meenu secures college admission after topping the district-level matriculation examination. Despite her brothers' earlier attempts to disrupt her studies by stopping her from attending school, they now try to marry her off to halt her education. However, Meenu's loving father intervenes, thwarting their plans.

As Meenu embarks on her collegiate journey, she faces initial challenge in the form of the lengthy way to college. Her nephew Roshan initially helps her by dropping her by the motorcycle of his father but later it becomes impossible when Roshan is cutt off from the family due to his passion of learning music. The family kicks out him considering his passion as a disgrace for them.

The details of the project were first reproted in January 2024. [4] The series was filmed in Dera Bakkha, a town located in the Bahawalpur District. [5]

Critical reception

Sana Hussain of DAWN Images praised the series for its thoughtful storytelling, strong performances by Sajal Aly and Hamza Sohail, and well-developed supporting characters, and commended the direction and writing as well. [6] Urooba Rasool of The Express Tribune praised the meaningful commentary of the series on social issues and Aly's strong performance as Meenu, highlighting the show's stellar acting and storytelling. Hamza Sohail Born 16 July 1996 is a Pakistani actor who works in Urdu television. The son of actor Sohail Ahmad. He made his acting debut with Raqeeb Se (2021). Sohail is known for his roles in dramas Fairy Tale (2023) and Zard Patton Ka Bunn (2024) The former earned him the Hum Award for Best Actor Popular.

Dil Wali Gali is an upcoming Pakistani Ramadan special television series, written by Zafar Mairaj and directed by Kashif Nisar. It is the produced by Momina Duraid, and stars Sajal Aly and Hamza Sohail as leads.
