Zareef Minty (born 24 January 1994) is a South African lawyer,[ citation needed ] politician, [1] businessman [2] and television personality.[ citation needed ]

Background

Zareef Minty was born in Vereeniging, Gauteng. He had his early education at Al-Huda Muslim School and his high school at St Conrads College. He then moved to Johannesburg to study his law degree at the University of the Witwatersrand where he completed a LLB.

Zareef Minty started his business career at the age of seventeen when he launched a clothing brand called Self Made Billionaires which was worn by South African model Lee-Ann Liebenberg and Kenny Kunene who also appeared on So What on ETV show second season promo launch wearing the label. He then went on to establish ZRF Holdings in 2016. [3]

Zareef began his political career with African National Congress (ANC) where he was appointed African National Congress Youth League acting treasurer at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2012. [4] In 2013 he joined the Patriotic Alliance (South Africa) party and he was appointed the National Youth President for the party in 2014 at the age of nineteen becoming the youngest politician to attain such a position for a registered political party in South African history. [5] He then went on to participate in the 2014 National General Elections where he finished 5th on the party's parliamentary candidates list. [6] Minty was named in the Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans of 2014. [7]

In 2017 he wrote and published his first book called Empire, [8] then in 2022 he launched his second book called The Secret To Finding Love which he co-authored with relationship coach Aseema Kazi. [9] Zareef is a motivational speaker and he speaks at schools around South Africa. [10] [11] [12]

In August 2022, Zareef was announced as one of the presenters for DSTV's Islamic television channel, INX Prime Live. [13] He also launched World News Holdings with Norma Mngoma the same year. [14] [15]

Zareef Minty was appointed to sit on the board of Afribiz Invest in 2021 [16] [17] then in 2022 he was appointed as Chief Operations Officer for StartX, a United Arab Emirates technology company. [18]

It first opened its doors on 30 November 2000 and it currently attracts over 9.3 million visitors annually. It is themed after Monte Cassino. It has been designed to replicate an ancient Tuscan village. The main casino building has a fake sky, painted on the ceiling, inside going from light on one side to dark at the other.

Mary Malahlela-Xakana was the first Black woman to register as a medical doctor in South Africa. She was also a founding member of the Young Women’s Christian Association.

Gil Oved is a South African entrepreneur who is the co-founder and co-CEO of The Creative Counsel, South Africa's largest advertising agency. He is a member of the global Young Presidents' Organization where he is the Johannesburg chapter chair as well as the Africa regional forum officer. He is one of the Dragons on the hugely popular television reality show Dragons' Den South Africa which premiered in the last quarter of 2014 on DSTV. In 2016 Oved was chosen as the first "Shark" on the new series of Shark Tank on M-NET.

Mcebo Dlamini is an Swazi-born South African politician who was one of the prominent leaders of the #FeesMustFall protests in South Africa which led to a conversation on the introduction of free tertiary education for the poor, mainly black students, in the country.

Vuyani Pambo is a South African politician and former student activist. He has represented the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the National Assembly since May 2019 and serves as the head of the EFF presidency. He rose to political prominence as a leader of the Fees Must Fall movement at the University of the Witwatersrand, where he was the head of the EFF Student Command. She is a dedicated advocate and spokeswoman for mental health awareness and empowering women and children.
