Zeev Boker is the current ambassador of Israel to Malta [1] as well as Israel's ambassador to Slovenia. [2] He previously served as the counsel general of Israel to New England from October 2018 [3] to March 2020. [4] He was Israel's sixth Ambassador to Ireland and its first Ambassador to Slovakia.
Boker was born and spent his early life on Kibbutz Afek in the North of Israel. His parents had both been born in Poland and emigrated to Israel. When they met and married in their new homeland, they moved to the kibbutz and raised their three children there. Boker earned a master's degree in political science (cum laude) from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. [5] [6]
He has served as a diplomat since November 1987, when he joined the Ministry of Foreign affairs as a cadet.
He became the first Israeli ambassador to Slovakia (2006–2010). [7] He also served in Prague as deputy chief of mission (1990–1993) and deputy Chief of mission in the Netherlands (1997–2003). He then became ambassador to Ireland. [8]
In his role in New England, Boker also potential in for cooperation between the U.S. and Israel in the areas of academics and medicine, particularly digital health. [6]
While Ambassador to Ireland, Boker was scheduled to speak at Trinity College Dublin. Pro-Palestinian students protested. The event was cancelled when police and University security were unable to remove the protestors. The college considered the protestors to be attacking free speech. [9]
Boker and his wife Tali have three children.

The Jewish Chronicle described him as "The man whose campaigns are rebranding Israel." Saranga's initiative to invite Maxim magazine to Israel generated debate about the definition of public diplomacy. Prof. John H. Brown of Georgetown University described this initiative as the first event in a new branch of Public Diplomacy. Saranga was the first diplomat who implemented Web 2.0 governmental initiatives, including the first official blog of a country, a MySpace page, YouTube channel, Facebook page and a political blog.
Israel–Ukraine relations are foreign relations between Israel and Ukraine. Both countries recognized each other on 11 May 1949 as the Ukrainian SSR and established de jure diplomatic relations on 26 December 1991 when Ukraine became independent. On December 6, 2017, the United States of America officially recognized Jerusalem as the capital city of the State of Israel. American president Donald Trump, who signed the presidential proclamation, also ordered the relocation of the American diplomatic mission to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv, constituting what is now the Embassy of the United States in Jerusalem, which was established on the grounds of the former Consulate General of the United States in Jerusalem. Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed the decision and praised the announcement by the Trump administration. On December 8, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson clarified that Trump's statement "did not indicate any final status for Jerusalem" and "was very clear that the final status, including the borders, would be left to the two parties to negotiate and decide" in reference to the recognition's impact on the Israeli–Palestinian peace process.
