In their second year under head coach Clyde Littlefield, the Longhorns compiled an overall record of 7–2, with a mark of 5–1 in conference play, and finished as SWC champion. [1]

1928 was also the first year in which Texas wore their now distinctive "burnt orange" jerseys.
