The Campeonato Sudamericano de Clubes Campeones de Básquetbol, or Campeonato Sudamericano de Clubes de Básquetbol, was an international men's professional basketball cup competition that took place between South American sports clubs. It was originally organized by the South American Basketball Confederation, and then later by FIBA Americas. It was played annually between the league champions in each country, plus the winner of the previous edition.
The Dominican Republic national basketball team represents the Dominican Republic in men's international basketball competitions. In 2011 and 2012, John Calipari, the head coach of the University of Kentucky men's basketball team, served as the head coach of the team. The team placed third in the 2011 FIBA Americas Championship and fourth in the 2012 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament, one position shy of qualifying for the 2012 Olympics.
The Cuba men's national basketball team represents Cuba at international competitions. It won the bronze medal at 1972 Summer Olympics and finished in 4th place at the 1974 FIBA World Championship. It is the only team from the Caribbean to win a medal at a major global event.
The 2017–18 Honduran Liga Nacional season was the 43rd Honduran Liga Nacional edition since its establishment in 1965. For this season, the system format remained the same as the previous season. The tournament ran from 19 July 2008 to 24 May 2009. The season was divided into two halves, each crowning one champion. C.D. Marathón and Club Deportivo Olimpia won one tournament each and qualified to the 2009–10 CONCACAF Champions League. Additionally, Real C.D. España also qualified with the best non-champion record as Belizean teams failed the CONCACAF stadium requirements.
The 2010–11 season in Honduran Liga Nacional was divided into two tournaments and determined the 57th and 58th champions in the history of the league. It also provided two berths for the 2011–12 CONCACAF Champions League. The league had a reserve tournament for the first time in history with players between 15 and 20 years old.
