Petrolina AEK Larnaca B.C., is a Cypriot professional basketball club based in Larnaca, Cyprus. The club competes in the Cypriot Basketball League. The president of the team is Vasilis Sellas and the current head coach is Nikolas Papadopoulos.

Dragan Raca is a Cypriot–Serbian basketball coach and former player. He was the coach of the national basketball teams of Lebanon, Cyprus and North Macedonia national basketball team. Today he heads the basketball club Beikong Fly Dragons, a member of the Chinese CBA league, as a coach, head of the profession and general supervisor.

Sasha Vezenkov Cypriot-Bulgarian-Greek professional basketball player

Aleksandar "Aleks" Vezenkov, commonly known as Sasha Vezenkov, is a Bulgarian professional basketball player for Olympiacos of the EuroLeague. He is a 2.06 m tall 102 kg (225 lb.) power forward, that can also play as a small forward. Vezenkov was born in Cyprus, but, due to his Bulgarian descent, he has regularly chosen to represent the Bulgarian national team. Vezenkov holds triple citizenship for Bulgaria, Cyprus and Greece.

The 1990 European Promotion Cup for Men was the third edition of this tournament. It was hosted in Cardiff, Wales and Iceland won the tournament after beating Cyprus in the final game.

The 2016 FIBA U16 European Championship Division C was held in Nicosia, Cyprus, from 17 to 24 July 2016. Ten teams participated in the competition. Cyprus won their third title in this competition by beating Azerbaijan in the final, 62–50.

The EuroBasket 2021 qualifiers started in November 2017 and will end in February 2021. 20 teams will qualify joining Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany and Italy who automatically qualified as co-hosts.

The 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualification, for the FIBA Europe region, will begin in the summer of 2021 and will conclude in February 2023.

The 2017 FIBA U18 European Championship Division C was the 13th edition of the Division C of the FIBA U18 European Championship. It was played in Nicosia, Cyprus, from 4 to 9 July 2017. 8 teams participated in the competition. Norway national under-18 basketball team won the tournament.

The 2000 European Promotion Cup for Cadettes was the first edition of the basketball European Promotion Cup for cadettes, today known as FIBA U16 Women's European Championship Division C. It was played in Gibraltar from 19 to 23 July 2000. Cyprus women's national under-16 basketball team won the tournament.

The 2001 European Promotion Cup for Junior Women was the third edition of the basketball European Promotion Cup for U18 women's teams, today known as FIBA U18 Women's European Championship Division C. It was played in Nicosia, Cyprus, from 18 to 22 July 2001. The host team, Cyprus, won the tournament.
