The USA Basketball Men's National Team, commonly known as the United States men's national basketball team, is the basketball team representing the United States. It is the most successful team in international competition, winning medals in all nineteen Olympic tournaments it has entered, including sixteen golds. In the professional era, the team won the Olympic gold medal in 1992, 1996, 2000, 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020. Two of its gold medal-winning teams were inducted to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in August 2010: the 1960 team, which featured six Hall of Famers, and the 1992 "Dream Team", featuring 14 Hall of Famers. The team is currently ranked first in the FIBA World Rankings.
The FIBA Basketball World Cup is an international basketball competition between the senior men's national teams of the members of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), the sport's global governing body. It takes place every four years and is considered the flagship event of FIBA.

The Australia women's national basketball team, nicknamed the Opals after the brightly coloured gemstone common to the country, represents Australia in international basketball. From 1994 onwards, the Opals have been consistently competitive and successful having won nine medals at official FIBA international tournaments, highlighted by a gold medal winning performance at the 2006 World Championship in Brazil. At the now-defunct regional Oceania Championship for Women, the Opals won 15 titles. In 2017, FIBA combined its Oceanian and Asian zones for official senior competitions; following this change, the Opals compete in the FIBA Women's Asia Cup.
Vassilis Spanoulis is a Greek professional basketball coach and former player, who is currently the head coach of the pro club Peristeri Athens, of the Greek Basket League and FIBA BCL, as well as the head coach of the senior men's Greek national team. During his professional club playing career, Spanoulis was a FIBA World Club Championship champion, a Triple Crown winner, a 3 time EuroLeague champion and 5 time EuroLeague finalist, a FIBA Europe League finalist, a 7 time Greek Basket League champion and 13 time Greek Basket League finalist, and a 4 time Greek Cup winner and 9 time Greek Cup finalist.

The FIBA U18 European Championship, originally known as the European Championship for Juniors, is a youth men's basketball competition that was inaugurated with the 1964 edition. It was held biennially through the 2002 edition. From the 2004 edition onward, it has been held every year. It serves as the qualification tournament for the FIBA Under-19 World Cup, for the FIBA Europe region. The current champions are Serbia.
The Israeli national under-20 basketball team represents the country in various FIBA youth tournaments. It usually competes in the FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship, and used to compete in the now defunct FIBA Under-21 World Championship. This team was originally the Israeli Under-22 national team, until the FIBA Europe Under-22 Championship was changed into an Under-20 age tournament.

Marcelo "Marcelinho" Tieppo Huertas is a Brazilian professional basketball player and the team captain for Lenovo Tenerife of the Spanish Liga ACB and the Basketball Champions League. He is also a member of the senior men's Brazilian national basketball team, and holds Italian citizenship. At 32 years old he was the second oldest rookie in the NBA after Pablo Prigioni and before Andre Ingram. After signing with the Lakers in 2015 he played 1+1⁄2 seasons with the Lakers before returning to Spain in 2017.
The 2009 FIBA Americas Championship, later known as the FIBA AmeriCup, was the continental championship held by FIBA Americas, for North, Central and South America and the Caribbean. This FIBA AmeriCup championship served as a qualifying tournament for the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey. Each of the top four finishers in the quarterfinal round robin qualified for the World Championship.

The 2011 FIBA Americas Championship for Men, later known as the FIBA AmeriCup, was the qualifying tournament for FIBA Americas, at the 2012 Summer Olympics men's basketball tournament, in London. This FIBA AmeriCup tournament was held in Mar del Plata, Argentina, from August 30 to September 11, 2011. Argentina won the title, defeating Brazil, 80–75, in the final match. This was the country's second AmeriCup championship.

Andrej Lemanis is a Latvian-Australian professional basketball coach and former player. Lemanis served as the head coach of Australia national team from 2013 to 2019. Lemanis coached the New Zealand Breakers of the Australian National Basketball League from 2005 to 2013, taking them to three consecutive championship titles in 2011, 2012 and 2013. He was awarded the NBL Coach of the Year award in 2012 and 2013. Lemanis was the head coach of the Brisbane Bullets of the NBL from 2016 to 2021.
The Australia women's national under-19 basketball team is the women's basketball team representing Australia for all international under-19, under-18, and under-17 women's basketball competitions, including the U19 Women's World Cup, Asian Championship, and the Oceania Championship. The team is nicknamed the Gems, an abbreviation for the word gemstone. In 1993, the Gems won the Australian Institute of Sport Athlete (team) of the Year.
