Super Rugby is a men's professional rugby union club competition involving teams from Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. It has previously included teams from Argentina, Japan, and South Africa. Super Rugby started as the Super 12 in the 1996 season with 12 teams from Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, building on competitions dating back to the South Pacific Championship in 1986. The Super 12 was established by SANZAR after the sport became professional in 1995. After the COVID-19 pandemic forced the competition to split into three, the reformed competition in 2021 only included teams from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific islands.
The Lions is a South African professional rugby union team based in Johannesburg in the Gauteng province. They competed in the Super Rugby competition until 2020, and have competed in the United Rugby Championship since 2021. They are the successor of the teams known as Transvaal (1996), Gauteng Lions (1997) and the Cats (1998–2006).
The Stormers is a South African professional rugby union team based in Cape Town in the Western Cape that competes in the United Rugby Championship, a trans-hemispheric competition that also involves sides from Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. St George's Park Cricket Ground is a cricket ground in St George's Park, South Africa. It is the home of the Port Elizabeth Cricket Club, one of the oldest cricket clubs in South Africa, the Eastern Province Club and Sunrisers Eastern Cape. The Six Gun Grill Western Province is a first-class cricket team from the Western Cape province within the domestic cricket structure of South Africa. A Western Province team has played top-class cricket since the 1890s, including the franchise era team of Cape Cobras that existed between 2005 and 2021. The current Western Province team was re-formed for the 2021/22 season after the previous franchise structure was disbanded following CSA domestic reorganisation. Whereas many teams opted to keep their former franchise brands, Cape Cobras elected to return to their traditional name.
Richard Alexander Pybus, is an English-born cricket coach. He coached the Pakistan and Bangladesh national teams, and currently serves as the Director of Cricket for the West Indies Cricket Board. He has held this post since October 2013.

The 2011–12 Franchise One Day Cup was a domestic one-day cricket championship in South Africa. The tournament was without a title sponsor this season, having previously been called the MTN40. It was the 31st time the championship was contested. In a change from previous seasons, matches were played over 50 overs per side instead of 40. The first match was played on 2 November 2011 and the final was on 9 December 2011 at Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town. The trophy was won by the Cape Cobras after they defeated the Warriors in the final.
The 2017–18 Ram Slam T20 Challenge was the fifteenth season of the CSA T20 Challenge, established by Cricket South Africa. It started on 10 November 2017 and finished on 16 December 2017. Titans were the defending champions.
The 2018–19 Momentum One Day Cup was a domestic one-day cricket championship that took place in South Africa. It was the 38th edition of the championship, with the tournament running from 8 February to 31 March 2019. Dolphins and Warriors were the defending champions, as the final of the previous competition was washed out, and the trophy shared between the two teams.
The 2020–21 Momentum One Day Cup was a domestic one-day cricket tournament that took place in South Africa in January and February 2021. Six teams took part in the tournament, split into two groups. Dolphins were the defending champions. It was the last season of franchise cricket, after Cricket South Africa announced a revamp to their domestic structure in March 2021.
