The 2018 Mzansi Super League was the inaugural edition of the Mzansi Super League (MSL) Twenty20 (T20) franchise cricket tournament in South Africa. [1] It started on 16 November and finished on 16 December 2018. [1] Six teams played a total of thirty-two matches. [2] The players' draft took place on 17 October 2018, with more than 200 international players expressing their interest to take part. [3]

Contents

On 18 October 2018, it was announced that Global Sports Commerce (GSC) is the official international commercial and broadcast partner from 2018 up to 2022. [4] On 30 October 2018 it was announced that the Mzansi Super League 2018 champions will receive prize money of ZAR7 million and the runners up will receive R2.5 million, the player of the tournament received R100 000, and each player of the match won R15 000. [5]

On 16 December 2018 the Jozi Stars won the first season final.

Before the start of the tournament, JP Duminy was ruled out due to injury and was replaced by Quinton de Kock as the marquee player for Cape Town Blitz. [14]

The 2011–12 MiWay T20 Challenge was the ninth season of the MiWay T20 Challenge, established by the Cricket South Africa. The tournament was previously known as the Standard Bank Pro20 Series. The tournament was played between 15 February and 1 April 2012. The tournament had an expanded tournament format. It featured the addition of a seventh team, a change in the group stage from a single to a double round-robin tournament, and a 2-match knockout stage.

Ferisco Devon Adams is a South African cricketer who currently plays for Boland. He is a right-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler. Adams made his first-class debut on 1 March 2012 against Gauteng. He was included in the Boland cricket team squad for the 2015 Africa T20 Cup.

Lizaad Williams is South African cricketer who plays for Boland. He made his international debut for South Africa in April 2021.

Heinrich Klaasen is a South African cricketer who plays for the South African national cricket team. He was included in the Northerns cricket team for the 2015 Africa T20 Cup. He was picked by Rajasthan Royals in 2018, and by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2019 to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In February 2021, Klaasen captained South Africa for the first time in a T20I match.

Ryan David Rickelton is a South African cricketer. He made his international debut for the South Africa cricket team on 31 March 2022. A left handed wicket-keeper batsman, Rickelton represents Lions domestically.

Eathan Bosch is a South African professional cricketer. He made his first-class debut for KwaZulu-Natal in the 2016–17 Sunfoil 3-Day Cup on 12 January 2017. He made his List A debut for KwaZulu-Natal in the 2016–17 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge on 12 February 2017. He made his Twenty20 debut for Dolphins in the 2017–18 Ram Slam T20 Challenge on 12 November 2017.

The Mzansi Super League (MSL) was a Twenty20 cricket (T20) franchise league held in South Africa. The competition was established in 2018 by Cricket South Africa (CSA) as a replacement for the failed T20 Global League, but only two editions were played before the competition was itself cancelled in favour of the SA20 competition from 2022/23.

Paarl Rocks were a franchise team of the South African Mzansi Super League Twenty20 cricket tournament founded in 2018. The team was based at Boland Park in Paarl. The coach was Adrian Birrell.

The 2019 Mzansi Super League, also known as the MSL 2.0, was the second edition of the Mzansi Super League (MSL) Twenty20 (T20) franchise cricket tournament in South Africa. It started on 8 November and ended on 16 December 2019. Jozi Stars were the defending champions, having won the inaugural 2018 tournament.

The 2021–22 CSA T20 Challenge was a Twenty20 cricket tournament that took place in South Africa during February 2022. It replaced the planned 2022 edition of the Mzansi Super League, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Imperial Lions were the defending champions.

The 2020–21 CSA T20 Challenge was the seventeenth season of the CSA T20 Challenge, established by Cricket South Africa. The tournament was played during February 2021, with all the matches taking place at the Kingsmead Cricket Ground in Durban. It replaced the 2020 edition of the Mzansi Super League, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On 5 February 2021, Cricket South Africa confirmed the fixtures for the tournament. Lions were the defending champions.
