The two-stage 2011 MLS Re-Entry Draft took place on December 5, 2011 (Stage 1) and December 12, 2011 (Stage 2). All 19 Major League Soccer clubs participated. [1]

Contents

The Stage 1 and Stage 2 Drafts were conducted in the same order as the traditional Waiver Draft, with clubs choosing in reverse order of their 2011 Major League Soccer season finish. Expansion side Montreal Impact selected 19th.

Teams were able to select players who fell under the following circumstances:

Players who were not selected in the Stage 1 draft were made available for the Stage 2 draft. Clubs that selected players in Stage 2 must negotiate a new salary with any player not under contract.

Teams also had the option of passing on their selection.

Available players

Players were required to meet age and service requirements to participate as stipulated by the terms of the MLS Collective Bargaining Agreement. The list below includes all players identified by the league on November 30, 2011 as eligible for the Re-Entry Draft. On December 2, 2011 the league released an updated list, removing players who were traded, re-signed, or retired. [2] A handful of players who were not traded, re-signed, or retired were also removed from the list. These players are listed below as "Withdrew prior to draft", which was an option available to eligible players.

The season marked the arrival of two new league clubs, Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps FC, whose cities previously had clubs of similar name play in the USSF D2 Pro League. The 2011 MLS SuperDraft was the twelfth annual SuperDraft presented by Major League Soccer. It was held on January 13, 2011 in Baltimore, Maryland, during the 2011 NSCAA Convention at the Baltimore Convention Center. The 2011 SuperDraft consisted of three rounds with eighteen selections each, for a total of 54 players selected during the draft. The draft preceded the 2011 MLS season.

The 2020 MLS SuperDraft was the 21st edition of the SuperDraft conducted by Major League Soccer. The 2020 SuperDraft was the first SuperDraft held exclusively via conference call and web streaming. The first two rounds of the 2020 SuperDraft were held on January 9, 2020 while rounds three and four were held on January 13, 2020. Previously, the SuperDraft had been held in conjunction with the annual January United Soccer Coaches convention.

The 2019 MLS Re-Entry Draft took place on November 26, 2019 and December 3, 2019. All 26 Major League Soccer clubs were eligible to participate. The priority order for the MLS Re-Entry Draft was reverse order of finish in 2019, taking into account playoff performance. The 2020 expansion teams, Nashville SC and Inter Miami CF, received selections #25 and #26, respectively.

The 2022 MLS SuperDraft was the 23rd edition of the SuperDraft conducted by Major League Soccer. The SuperDraft is held every January prior to the start of the MLS season and has been conducted via conference calls since 2020. Previously, the SuperDraft had been held in conjunction with the annual January United Soccer Coaches convention.
