Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is the municipal corporation that governs most of Delhi, India. The MCD is among the largest municipal bodies in the world providing civic services to a population of about 20 million citizens in the capital city Delhi. It is headed by the Mayor of Delhi, who presides over elected councillors from 250 wards. The municipal corporation covers an area of 1,397.3 km². The annual budget of the corporation is above ₹16,000 crore.

The 2006 Delhi sealing drive was a campaign by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to close a number of illegal commercial establishments in Delhi, India which lacked authorization. The drive witnessed considerable opposition from trading bodies in the city which led to the deaths of four people in September 2006. It ran until early 2007.

Arti Mehra was Mayor of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) from 2007 to 2009. She was replaced by Prithvi Raj Swahney. She represents the Hauz Khaz ward in South Delhi for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She was born in Nangal in the Indian state of Punjab, and graduated from the Miranda House. She had done a course in marketing in the United States. She had previously served as the chairperson of health committee in MCD.

Dayanand Chandila was an Member of Legislative assembly in Delhi, he represented Rajouri Garden Assembly from 2008-13 and Vishnu Garden Assembly from 2003-08. In 2020 his wife Dhanwati Chandela elected as an MLA from Rajauri Garden Assembly.

Manoj Kumar Tiwari is an Indian politician, singer and actor serving as a Member of Parliament from North East Delhi. He contested the 2009 general election as a Samajwadi Party candidate from Gorakhpur Lok Sabha but lost to Yogi Adityanath. Again, he contested 2014 Indian general elections as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate and won. He was appointed as Delhi BJP president in 2016. He was the head of the BJP organisation in Delhi when the party recorded a record victory in 2017 MCD elections. He was a contestant in Bigg Boss season 4.

Sambit Patra is an Indian politician and surgeon who has served as the national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party since 2014 and currently serving as a chairman in tourism department. Patra had his first job at Hindu Rao Hospital. He was appointed an independent director of the board of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) in 2017. On 30 November 2021, Patra was appointed Chairman of the India Tourism Development Corporation.

The elections for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi were held on 23 April 2017. The next elections will held in 2022. The results were declared on 26 April 2017 in which BJP was elected. The total turnout for the election was 54%. The major parties contesting the election are BJP, INC and AAP.

Aaley Mohammad Iqbal is a politician from Old Delhi and is currently the Deputy Mayor of Delhi Municipal Corporation. He is also the elected councillor from Chandni Mahal Ward of Matia Mahal Assembly constituency. He has been elected for Delhi MCD 3 times in 2012, 2017 and 2022.
