The Moldova men's national basketball team represents Moldova in international basketball. The team is governed by the Basketball Federation of Moldova.
EuroBasket 2017 was the 40th edition of the EuroBasket championship that was organized by FIBA Europe and held between 31 August and 17 September 2017. Beginning from 2017, the continental championships take place every four years with a similar system of qualification as for the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
The 2015 FIBA Americas Championship for Men, later known as the FIBA AmeriCup, was the FIBA Americas qualifying tournament for the 2016 Summer Olympics, in Brazil. This FIBA AmeriCup tournament was held in Mexico City, Mexico. The tournament was won for the first time by the Venezuelan national basketball team. Venezuela and runner-up Argentina, qualified directly for the 2016 Olympics. They joined the FIBA Americas member, United States, who qualified for the Olympics by virtue of winning the 2014 FIBA World Cup, and they elected not to participate at this tournament; and FIBA Americas member, Brazil, who finished 9th in the tournament, but qualified for the Olympics as the host nation. Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico, the next three highest-finishing teams, qualified for the 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament, but none of them won their respective qualifying tournaments, therefore eliminating their 2016 Olympic hopes.

The 2016 FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship for Men was an international basketball competition that was held in Valdivia, Chile from July 19–23, 2016. It was the tenth edition of the championship, and was the FIBA Americas qualifying tournament for the 2017 FIBA Under-19 World Championship. Eight national teams from across the Americas, composed of men aged 19 and under, competed in the tournament. The United States won their fourth consecutive gold medal, and eighth overall, in this event by beating Canada in the final, 99–84.
The 2016 FIBA Women's European Championship for Small Countries was the 14th edition of this tournament. It took place in Gibraltar from 28 June to 3 July 2016.

The 2016 FIBA Under-17 World Championship for Women was an international basketball competition that was held in Zaragoza, Spain from 22 June 22 to 2 July 2016. It was the fourth edition of the FIBA Under-17 World Championship for Women. Sixteen national teams competed in the tournament.

The 2016 FIBA U18 Women's European Championship was an international basketball competition held in Sopron, Hungary, from 23 to 31 July 2016. It was the 33rd edition of the championship, and the FIBA Europe qualifying tournament for the 2017 FIBA Under-19 Women's Basketball World Cup. 16 national teams from across Europe, composed of women aged 18 and under, competed in the tournament.
The 2017 FIBA Women's Asia Cup was the qualifying tournament for FIBA Asia and FIBA Oceania at the 2018 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in Spain. The tournament was held from 23 to 29 July in Bangalore, India. Before this edition, the tournament was known as the FIBA Asia Championship for Women, and only involved FIBA Asia members. FIBA Oceania teams Australia and New Zealand, as well as Fiji competed in the tournament for the first time.
The 2017 FIBA AmeriCup was the 18th edition of the FIBA AmeriCup, which is the main tournament for senior men's basketball national teams of the FIBA Americas. The tournament was held in Medellín, Colombia, Montevideo, Uruguay, and Bahía Blanca and Córdoba, in Argentina, from 25 August, to 3 September 2017.
The 2018 FIBA European Championship for Small Countries was the 16th edition of this tournament. It was hosted by San Marino.
The 2018 FIBA U20 European Championship Division B was the 14th edition of the Division B of the FIBA U20 European Championship, the second-tier level of the European Under-20 basketball championship. The tournament was played in Sofia, Bulgaria, from 13 to 22 July 2018.
The 2018 FIBA U18 European Championship was the 35th edition of the FIBA U18 European Championship. The competition took place in Riga, Ventspils and Liepāja, Latvia, from 28 July to 5 August 2018.
The men's basketball tournament at the 2019 Pan American Games was held in Lima, Peru at the Coliseo Eduardo Dibos from 31 July to 4 August. The teams were grouped into two pools of four teams each for a round-robin preliminary round. The top two teams in each group advanced to a single elimination bracket. Argentina won the gold medal, its second gold in Pan American basketball, after defeating Puerto Rico in the championship
The 2021 FIBA European Championship for Small Countries was the 17th edition of this tournament, hosted in Dublin, Ireland. Initially, the championship was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was rescheduled to 10–15 August 2021.

The 2022 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup Qualifying Tournament determined the last ten teams for the 2022 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup. It was held from 10 to 14 February 2022.
The 2022 FIBA European Championship for Small Countries was the 18th edition of this competition. It took place in Ta' Qali, Malta, from 28 June to 3 July 2022. Ireland were the defending champions; but they didn't participate in this edition.
