Andreas Linger Austrian luger

Andreas Linger is an Austrian retired luger who has competed internationally since 2000. He and his younger brother Wolfgang began luging at a very young age, and did their first doubles run when they were 14. Linger has won five medals at the FIL World Luge Championships with three golds and two bronzes. He also earned seven medals at the FIL European Luge Championships with a gold, three silvers, and three bronzes. The Lingers were overall Luge World Cup men's doubles champions in 2011-12 and scored 15 World Cup race victories. They were two time Olympic champions in the men's doubles event at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy and the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. They won in 2006 despite Wolfgang having broken his leg in a luge crash the previous year. In 2010, they successfully defended their gold medal against another team of brothers, Andris and Juris Šics of Latvia.

Albert Demchenko Russian luger

Albert Mikhailovich Demchenko is a Russian luger who competed from 1992 to 2014. He is currently coaching the Russian luge team. His daughter Victoria Demchenko is also a luger.

Norbert Huber is an Italian luger who competed from the early 1980s to the late 1990s.

Hansjörg Raffl is an Italian luger who competed from the late 1970s to the mid-1990s. Competing in five Winter Olympics, he won two medals in the men's doubles event with a silver in 1994 and a bronze in 1992.

Josef Feistmantl was an Austrian luger who competed from the mid-1950s to the early 1970s. He competed at three Olympic Games.

Reinhold Senn was an Austrian luger who competed during the 1960s.

Ewald Walch was an Austrian luger who competed from the mid-1950s to the early 1970s. Competing in two Winter Olympics, he won the silver medal in the men's doubles event at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble.

Hans Brandner is a German former luger who competed for West Germany from the early 1970s to the early 1980s. Competing in three Winter Olympics, He won the silver medal in the men's doubles event at Innsbruck in 1976.

Paul Aste was an Austrian bobsledder and luger who competed during the 1950s and the 1960s. He also took the Olympic Oath for athletes at the 1964 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck.

Reinhold Sulzbacher was an Austrian luger who competed in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He won the gold medal in the men's doubles event at the 1982 FIL European Luge Championships in Winterberg, West Germany.

Königssee bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track

The Königssee bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track is a venue in Germany for bobsleigh, luge and skeleton, located in Schönau am Königsee, Bavaria, near Königssee and the border with Austria. Completed 52 years ago in 1968, it is the first permanent, artificially refrigerated bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track in the world.

Olympic Sliding Centre Innsbruck sports venue

The Olympic Sliding Centre Innsbruck is a venue for bobsleigh, luge and skeleton located in Igls, Austria. The most recent version of the track was completed in 1975 and is the first permanent, combination artificially refrigerated bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track, serving as a model for other tracks of its kind worldwide. It hosted the bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton competitions for the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics.

The doubles luge event at the 2010 Winter Olympics was held on 17 February at the Whistler Sliding Centre in Whistler, British Columbia. Twenty teams participated. Austrian brothers Andreas and Wolfgang Linger, the defending Olympic and European champions,. won the gold medal. The silver medal was also won by a pair of brothers, Andris and Juris Šics of Latvia. Germans Patric Leitner and Alexander Resch clinched the bronze medal after edging out Italians Christian Oberstolz and Patrick Gruber, who were in third place after the first run.

The 2016 FIL World Luge Championships took place under the auspices of the International Luge Federation at Königssee, Germany from 29 to 31 January 2016.

Armin Frauscher is an Austrian luge athlete. He finished ninth competing for Austria in the boys' singles event at the 2012 Youth Winter Olympics, held in his birthplace of Inbsbruck. Frauscher finished second in the opening men's singles event of the 2015-16 luge World Cup in Igls. During the 2017-18 Luge World Cup frauscher placed second in Konigssee.

Kevin Fischnaller is an Italian luge athlete who has competed in the Luge World Cup for Italy since 2011.

The 2018 FIL European Luge Championships took place under the auspices of the International Luge Federation at Sigulda, Latvia from 27 to 28 January 2018.

2019 FIL World Luge Championships

The 2019 FIL World Luge Championships took place under the auspices of the International Luge Federation at the Winterberg bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track in Winterberg, Germany from 25 to 27 January 2019.
