The final tournament was held for the first time in Qatar, from 15 January to 1 February 2015. The Qatari bid was selected over those of Norway, Poland and France after a vote by the IHF Council on 27 January 2011, in Malmö, Sweden. This was the third time that the World Championship was hosted in the Middle East And North Africa, after Egypt in 1999 and Tunisia in 2005.

Al Ahly (handball) Egyptian handball club

Al Ahly Handball Club is one of Al Ahly Sporting Club's sections that represent the club in Egypt as well as in international handball competitions. Al Ahly's Handball team was founded in 1959. The Al Ahly handball team has participated in the Egyptian Handball League since the beginning in 1960s until the present. The Championship was played under the name of the Republic League. The 2016 IHF Super Globe was the tenth edition of the tournament. It was held in Doha (Qatar) at the Duhail Handball Sports Hall from 5 to 8 September 2016.

The 2016 African Handball Champions League was the 38th edition, organized by the African Handball Confederation, under the auspices of the International Handball Federation, the handball sport governing body. The tournament was held from October 21–30, 2016 at the Palais de Sports de Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso, contested by 10 teams and won by Al Ahly of Egypt.

The 2017 IHF Men's Youth World Championship was the seventh edition of the U-19 tournament and held in Tbilisi, Georgia from 8 to 20 August 2017. All matches were played in two halls at the Olympic Palace.

The 2018 IHF Super Globe was the twelfth edition of the tournament. It was held in Doha, Qatar at the Duhail Handball Sports Hall from 16 to 19 October 2018.

The men's handball tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics was the 14th edition of the handball event for men at the Summer Olympic Games. It was held from 24 July to 7 August 2021. All games were played at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.

The 2019 IHF Super Globe was the thirteenth edition of the IHF Men's Super Globe, a yearly club world championship in handball organised by the International Handball Federation (IHF). The tournament was held in Dammam, Saudi Arabia from 27 to 31 August 2019.

The 2019 IHF Women's Super Globe was the first edition of the tournament. It was held in Wuxi, China from 1 to 4 August 2019.

‌The 2021 IHF Men's Super Globe was the 14th edition of the yearly club world championship and held from 5 to 9 October 2021 at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia under the aegis of International Handball Federation (IHF). It was the second time in history that the event was organised by the Saudi Arabian Handball Federation.
