It featured GT3-spec cars, TCR Touring Car, Formula 4, drifting, a karting slalom and eSports disciplines. Only Silver and Bronze drivers were allowed to compete. The event promoters were the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and the Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO). Rome was the city that hosted the opening ceremony on 30 October 2019. [1]
The event was contested in the Olympics-style, but because machine-based or motorized sports are not recognised by the Olympic Games organisation they will not be recognised as an Olympic event. "Motorized" events were held at the 1900 Summer Olympics and 1908 Summer Olympics (see Motor racing at the 1900 Summer Olympics and Water motorsports at the 1908 Summer Olympics) but they are not now regarded as official Olympic events.
166 athletes from 49 National FIA member organisations took part. 18 sets of medals were featured in the 6 disciplines.
Team Russia topped the medal table, with one gold medal for Touring Car Cup and three medals (bronze medals in Karting Slalom and Drifting) overall. Team Australia and Team Italy tied on the second place with equal amount of gold (for Digital and Formula 4 Cups respectively) and bronze medals (for GT and Digital Cups respectively). Team Belgium (Touring Car and Karting Slalom Cups) was the only other team to win more than one medal. 13 different national teams received at least one medal.

The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile is an association established on 20 June 1904 to represent the interests of motoring organisations and motor car users. To the general public, the FIA is mostly known as the governing body for many auto racing events, such as the well-known Formula One. The FIA also promotes road safety around the world.
Fuji Speedway is a motorsport race track standing in the foothills of Mount Fuji, in Oyama, Suntō District, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. It was built in the early 1960s. In the 1980s, Fuji Speedway was used for the FIA World Sportscar Championship and national racing. Originally managed by Mitsubishi Estate Co., Fuji Speedway was acquired by Toyota Motor Corporation in 2000. The circuit hosted the Formula One Japanese Grand Prix in 2007 after an absence of nearly 30 years, replacing the Suzuka Circuit owned by Honda. After Fuji Speedway hosted the 2008 race, the Japanese Grand Prix returned to Suzuka for races from 2009 onward. The Super GT Fuji 500 km race is held at the racetrack on Golden Week.
The Autodromo Vallelunga Piero Taruffi is a racing circuit situated 32 km (20 mi) north of Rome, Italy, near Vallelunga of Campagnano. Vallelunga was built as a sand 1.773 km (1.102 mi) oval in 1959.
The GT4 European Series is a sports car championship created and organised by SRO Motorsports Group. It is a pro/am championship which followed a formula similar to the FIA GT3 European Championship, which was itself derived from the FIA GT Championship which utilized the GT1 and GT2 classes. The GT4 class cars are the least powerful of the four classes, yet are equalised in order to allow driving skill to become key.
SRO Motorsports Group is an international sporting organisation best known for promoting and running a variety of racing events and series, including the Total 24 Hours of Spa, Intercontinental GT Challenge and Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe.
The 2012 FIA GT1 World Championship was the third and final season of the SRO Group's FIA GT1 World Championship, an auto racing series for grand tourer cars. The 2012 championship, which opened to GT3 Series Grand Touring cars, featured two titles awarded to the highest scoring competitors over the course of the season: the GT1 World Championship for Drivers and the GT1 World Championship for Teams. The series underwent regulation changes in 2012 with GT3 cars replacing the GT1 category vehicles used in the previous two seasons of the World Championship. Hexis AMR, now under the title Hexis Racing, returned as the defending Teams' World Champions, while German drivers Michael Krumm and Lucas Luhr didn't return to the series to defend their Drivers' World Championships.

For the following year the event was reformatted as the multi-discipline FIA Motorsport Games.

The 2022 FIA Motorsport Games will be the second edition of the FIA Motorsport Games. The event will take place on 26–30 October 2022 with Marseille as a host city, and the Circuit Paul Ricard, Le Castellet as the venue for all the track-based disciplines. Scheduled initially for 23–25 October 2020, and later for 29–31 October 2021, the event was postponed two years in a row due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
