The 2022 Winnipeg municipal election took place on October 26, 2022. The offices of mayor, city councillors, and school trustees of the city of Winnipeg were elected as a result of this election. [1] Elections were held as part of municipal elections held across the province. The elections were held under first-past-the-post voting.

Mayoral election

The incumbent mayor, Brian Bowman, announced on October 23, 2020, that he would not be running for a third term. He said that he was not a career politician, and that he had no plans for a future in politics. [2] [3] [4] [5] Scott Gillingham was elected mayor with just over 27% of the vote. [6] [7]

Brian Thomas Douglas Bowman is a Canadian politician who was the 43rd mayor of Winnipeg from 2014 to 2022. He was first elected in the 2014 municipal election and was re-elected mayor for a second term in October 2018, increasing his plurality from 47% in the last election to a majority of 53%.

An Alberta Liberal Party leadership election was held at the Alberta Liberal Party's 2017 Annual General Meeting in order choose a permanent successor to Raj Sherman who resigned on January 26, 2015. Sherman, who was under investigation over alleged illegal campaign donations, indicated in a statement to the media that he was resigning as leader immediately for personal reasons and did not run for re-election as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta at the provincial election held on May 5, 2015. The leadership election was originally scheduled for April 23, 2016 but has been delayed for a year to give prospective candidates more time to organize. David Khan was elected.

Peel Region municipal elections, 2018, were part of the larger Ontario municipal elections, that took place on Monday, October 22.

The 2018 Vancouver municipal election was held on October 20, 2018, the same day as other municipalities and regional districts in British Columbia selected their new municipal governments. Official registration for all candidates opened on September 4, 2018, and closed on September 14, 2018.

The 2023 Manitoba general election was held on October 3, 2023, to elect 57 members to the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba. The incumbent Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba, led by Premier of Manitoba Heather Stefanson, had attempted to win a third term in government, having previously won the 2016 and 2019 elections under the leadership of Brian Pallister. The New Democratic Party of Manitoba, led by Wab Kinew, replaced the outgoing Conservative majority government with one of its own. Following the election, Kinew became the first First Nations person to become premier of a Canadian province.

The 2020 Green Party of Canada leadership election took place between September 26 and October 3, 2020, to elect a leader to replace Elizabeth May, who resigned on November 4, 2019, after leading the party for more than a decade and achieving a record three seats in Parliament in the 2019 federal election. Eight candidates ran to replace her. While these candidates offered different visions for the future of the party and made various policy proposals, they all agreed that climate change is a serious issue, opposed the construction of new pipelines, supported a guaranteed livable income, and supported adopting some form of proportional representation in federal elections.

The internal party election was called as a result of Premier Brian Pallister, the leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba, announcing his resignation on August 10, 2021. As the Progressive Conservative Party had a majority in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, their new leader would automatically become the 24th premier of Manitoba.

The 2022 United Conservative Party leadership election was held on October 6 in Alberta to select a new leader of the United Conservative Party and Premier of Alberta. The leadership election was triggered following the May 18 leadership review in which the United Conservative Party membership voted 51.4 per cent in support of incumbent Premier Jason Kenney's leadership. In Kenney's speech following the announcement of the results, Kenney issued his resignation as leader of the United Conservative Party. Nominations for leadership of the United Conservative Party closed on July 20, with seven candidates meeting the nomination criteria. Party members selected their preference for leader using instant-runoff voting between September 2 and October 3.
