The 2023 European Truck Racing Championship, also known as the Goodyear European Truck Racing Championship for sponsorship reasons, will be a motor-racing championship using highly tuned tractor units. It is the 39th year of the championship. A nine-round season was announced on 7 December 2022, with the season beginning on 20 May at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli and ending on 1 October at the Circuito del Jarama. [1] The season was shortened to eight rounds pre-season due to construction work at the Hungaroring.

Schedule

A nine-round season was announced on 7 December 2022. All venues from the 2022 season were initially slated to return. Additionally, a new event at Tor Poznań in Poland was added for 2023. [1]

On 11 April, the series announced that the scheduled round in Hungary at the Hungaroring was cancelled due to reconstruction work occurring at the venue, dropping the season to eight events. [2]

The Hungaroring is a 4.381 km (2.722 mi) motorsport racetrack in Mogyoród, Pest County, Hungary where the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix is held. In 1986, it became the location of the first Formula One Grand Prix behind the Iron Curtain. Bernie Ecclestone wanted a race in the USSR, but a Hungarian friend recommended Budapest. They wanted a street circuit similar to the Circuit de Monaco to be built in the Népliget – Budapest's largest park – but the government decided to build a new circuit just outside the city near a major highway. Construction works started on 1 October 1985. It was built in eight months, less time than any other Formula One circuit. The first race was held on 24 March 1986, in memory of János Drapál, the first Hungarian who won motorcycle Grand Prix races. According to a survey put together by the national tourism office of Hungary, Mogyoród ranks third among Hungarian destinations visited by tourists, behind the Danube Bend area and Lake Balaton, but ahead of Budapest. The circuit has FIA Grade 1 license.

An eight-round season was originally slated to begin April 25 at the Hungaroring and end October 4 at the Circuito del Jarama. The COVID-19 pandemic caused disruption to motorsport across the world, mirroring its impact across all sports. Across the world and to varying degrees, events and competitions were cancelled or postponed.

The 2021 European Truck Racing Championship was a motor-racing championship using highly tuned tractor units. It was the 37th year of the championship. A seven round calendar was announced on November 17, 2020, which was slated to begin May 22, 2021 at the Misano World Circuit in Italy and conclude with October 3 at the Circuito del Jarama in Spain. However, due to continued restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, the round at Misano was postponed to the end of the season, moving the round at the Hungaroring in Hungary on June 12 as the first race of the season.

The 2022 World Touring Car Cup was the fifth and final season of the World Touring Car Cup and 18th overall of the series, which dates back to the 2005 World Touring Car Championship. The season began on 7 May at the Circuit de Pau-Ville and ended on 27 November in Jeddah Corniche Circuit, however multiple event cancellations due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and ongoing quarantine restrictions in Asia. On 1 September 2022, the organiser announced the final version of the calendar, adding Bahrain and Saudi Arabia as final venues for the 2022 season.

The 2022 ACCR Formula 4 Trophy was a motor racing series held in the Central and Eastern Europe, competed over four rounds. The full six rounds schedule was supposed to be the first season of the ACCR Formula 4 Championship organized by the Automobile Club of the Czech Republic. The season was supposed to start with its first round taking place at the Hungaroring in April and with the final round taking place at Brno Circuit in September. After many calendar changes caused by massive delivery delays, it was announced on 6 July that the start of the championship as an FIA Formula 4 Championship would be postponed to 2023 and that only the last three original rounds would be held as a trophy series. The series uses Tatuus F4-T-421 chassis primarily, although Tatuus F4-T014 was eligible for the Trophy class.

The 2022 Software AG ERA Championship, formally known as the 2022 Electric Racing Academy Championship was a motor racing championship for open wheel, all-electric formula racing cars. This was the inaugural and so far, final season of the championship. It became a one-race championship at Circuit Zolder after many scheduling issues.

It is the 40th year of the championship. An eight-round season was announced on 6 December 2023, with the season beginning on 25 May at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli and ending on 6 October at the Circuito del Jarama. The season was shortened to seven rounds pre-season due to temporary infrastructure problems at the Tor Poznań.
