Katsina State(Hausa:Jihar Katsina) is a state in the northwestern geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Katsina State was created in 1987,when it split from Kaduna State. Today,Katsina State borders Kaduna,Zamfara,Kano,and Jigawa States. Mohammed Bello Kaliel was a Nigerian Army Colonel and the first Governor of Bauchi State,Nigeria after it was created on 3 February 1976 when North-Eastern State was divided into Bauchi,Borno,and Gongola states,during the military regime of General Olusegun Obasanjo. He held office until July 1978.
Muktar Ahmed Mohammed Aruwa was a Nigerian senator. He was first elected to the senate in 1999 as a representative of Kaduna State for the All People's Party (APP). Aruwa sat on several senate committees and opposed the privatization of public enterprises. He was re-elected in 2003 as a member of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP),the successor to the APP. He was involved in a dispute over committee appointments,claiming unfair play by the senate leadership. Aruwa's name was dropped from the ANPP party list for the 2007 election.

Alhaji Abdul'aziz Abubakar Yari is a Nigerian politician who was elected Governor of Zamfara State,Nigeria in the 26 April 2011 national elections,running on the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) platform. Following the merger of the ANPP and several other opposition parties into the now-governing All Progressives Congress,Yari became a member of the All Progressives Congress.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is one of the two major contemporary political parties in Nigeria,along with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Founded on 6 February 2013 from a merger of Nigeria's three largest opposition parties,the party came to power following the victory of party candidate Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential election. This marked the first time in Nigerian history that an opposition party unseated a governing party and power was transferred peacefully.

Bello Muhammad,known as Bello Matawalle,is a Nigerian politician and teacher who has served as the Governor of Zamfara State since 2019. After briefly serving in the Abacha-era state house of assembly and serving as a state commissioner from 1999 to 2003 in the Ahmad Sani Yerima administration in the Fourth Republic,he first won a elected office in 2003 as a member of the House of Representatives for Bakura/Maradun and retained the office until 2015—first as a member of the All Nigeria Peoples Party before switching to the People's Democratic Party in 2011. Four years after losing his Bakura/Maradun Constituency seat in 2015,Matawalle became the 2019 PDP gubernatorial nominee and won the office after a Supreme Court ruling disqualified the original winner. In 2021,he defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress after a defection rally in Gusau alongside most Zamfara State elected officials.
Inuwa Abdulkadir was a Nigerian lawyer and politician who was National vice-chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He previously served as Federal Minister of Youth Development from 2012 to 2013,before falling out with President Goodluck Jonathan and supporting President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential election.

The 2023 Kaduna State gubernatorial election will take place on 11 March 2023,to elect the Governor of Kaduna State,concurrent with elections to the Kaduna State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election will be held two weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.
The 2023 Nigerian presidential election will be held on 25 February 2023 to elect the president and vice president of Nigeria. Incumbent APC President Muhammadu Buhari is term-limited and cannot seek re-election for a third term.
