All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur (AIIMS Nagpur) is a medical research public higher education institute located at the Multi-modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN), Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. It is one of the four "Phase-IV" All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) announced in July 2014.

In July 2014, [3] in the budget speech for 2014–15, [4] the Minister of Finance Arun Jaitley announced a budget of 500 crore (equivalent to 679 croreorUS$85 million in 2020) for setting up four new AIIMS, in Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra and the Purvanchal region in Uttar Pradesh, [3] the so-called "Phase-IV" institutes. [4] In October 2015 the AIIMS at Nagpur was approved by the cabinet at a cost of 1,577 crore (equivalent to 20 billionorUS$250 million in 2020). [4] Construction work on the permanent campus started in September 2017. [4] Meanwhile, AIIMS Nagpur has commenced the academic session 2018-19 from temporary campus at Government Medical College and Hospital, Nagpur. [5]

The project aims to exploit the central location of Nagpur and convert the present airport into a major cargo hub with integrated road and rail connectivity.

Institute of National Importance (INI) is a status that may be conferred on a premier public higher education institution in India by an act of Parliament of India, an institution which "serves as a pivotal player in developing highly skilled personnel within the specified region of the country/state". Institutes of National Importance receive special recognition, higher autonomy and funding from the Government of India.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Expressways of India</span> List of Expressways in India

Expressways are the highest class of roads in India. As of March 2023, India has a total length of 4067.27 km (2,527.719mi) of expressways. These are controlled-access highways where entrance and exits are controlled by the use of cloverleaf or trumpet interchanges that are incorporated into the design of the expressway and designed for maximum speed of 120 km/hr, whereas National highways are flyover access or controlled-access highway, where entrance and exit is through the side of the flyover, at each intersection of highway with road, flyovers are provided to bypass the city/town/village traffic and these highways are designed for speed of 100 km/hr. Some roads are not access-controlled expressways, but are still named as expressways, such as the Biju Expressway, these are actually state highways which are not declared by central government as an Expressway, hence not an Expressway or National Highway. Mumbai–Pune Expressway is the first 6-lane operational expressway in India started in 2002. Expressways follow standards set by Indian Roads Congress and Bureau of Indian Standards.

Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) are a group of 25 interdisciplinary technology-based-engineering research institutions in India which are focused on information technology. Five of them are established, funded and managed by the Ministry of Education (MOE). Nagpur Metro is a rapid transit system for the city of Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. It is estimated to cost 8,650 crore. In February 2014, the Government of Maharashtra gave approval for the Metro Project, while the Government of India's Ministry of Urban Development had given "In Principle" approval for the Project. On 20 August 2014, Union Cabinet gave approval for the development of project, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid foundation stone on 21 August on his visit to the city. Construction on the project began on 31 May 2015, with trial run beginning on 30 September 2017.

It is considered as pioneer health institution of South Asia.
