Ambika Soni (born 13 November 1942) is an Indian politician in the Indian National Congress. She has been Minister of Information and Broadcasting. She was a Member of Parliament representing the state of Punjab in the Rajya Sabha.
Born in Lahore in undivided Punjab to Nakul Sen Wadhwa,an Indian Civil Service officer and Lt. Governor of Goa in 1942. [1] Her mother,Indu Wadhwa,was a home-maker. The family was Hindu,but converted to Christianity.
Ambika studied at Welham Girls School,New Delhi and did her M.A. (Hons.) from Indraprastha College,Delhi University,followed by Diploma Superiore en Langue Francaise from Alliance Francaise,Bangkok and Post-Graduate Diploma in Spanish Art and Literature from University of Havana,Cuba. [2]
In 1961,aged 19,Ambika married Uday Soni,an Indian Foreign Service officer.
Ambika Soni began her political career in 1969 when she was co-opted into the Congress Party by Indira Gandhi at the time of the Party split in 1969. Soni was an old family friend of Gandhi from the time when her father was posted as District collector of Amritsar during the Partition of India and worked very closely with Jawaharlal Nehru. [3] In 1975 she was elected as the president of the Indian Youth Congress and worked closely with Sanjay Gandhi. [1] In 1998,she became the president of All India Mahila Congress. From 1999 - 2006 she was General Secretary of All India Congress Committee.

Indira Gandhi was an Indian politician who served as the third Prime Minister of India from 1966 to 1977 and again from 1980 until her assassination in 1984. She was India's first and,to date,only female prime minister,and a central figure in Indian politics as the leader of the Indian National Congress. Gandhi was the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru,the first prime minister of India,and the mother of Rajiv Gandhi,who succeeded her in office as the country's sixth prime minister. Furthermore,Gandhi's cumulative tenure of 15 years and 350 days makes her the second-longest-serving Indian prime minister after her father. Henry Kissinger described her as an "Iron Lady",a nickname that became associated with her tough personality since her lifetime.
Rajiv Gandhi was an Indian politician who served as the 6th Prime Minister of India from 1984 to 1989. He took office after the assassination of his mother,then–prime minister Indira Gandhi,to become at the age of 40 the youngest Indian prime minister. He served until his defeat at the 1989 election,and then became Leader of the Opposition,Lok Sabha,resigning in December 1990,six months before his own assassination.

Dikshit led the Indian National Congress party to three consecutive electoral victories in Delhi.

Captain Amarinder Singh,is an Indian politician,military historian,former royal and Indian Army veteran who served as the 15th Chief Minister of Punjab. He has also previously served as the Chief Minister of Punjab from 2002 to 2007 and 2017 to 2021. His father was the last Maharaja of the princely state of Patiala. He has also served in the Indian Army from 1963 to 1966. In 1980,he won a seat in the Lok Sabha for the first time. As of November 2022,Singh also serves as the chairman of the Punjab Urdu Academy. Captain Singh resigned as the Chief Minister of Punjab on 18 September 2021. On 19 September 2022 he merged his party PLC with BJP and joined BJP on the same day.
The All India Congress Committee (AICC) is the presidium or the central decision-making assembly of the Indian National Congress. It is composed of members elected from state-level Pradesh Congress Committees and can have as many as a thousand members. It is the AICC that elects members of the Congress Working Committee and the Congress President,who is also the head of the AICC.

She is a member of Shiromani Akali Dal Party. Her husband Sukhbir Singh Badal is former deputy chief minister of Punjab and the president of Shiromani Akali Dal. She resigned from the cabinet on 17 September 2020 to protest against few farmer related ordinances and legislation.
The 1984 anti-Sikh riots,also known as the 1984 Sikh massacre,was a series of organised pogroms against Sikhs in India following the assassination of Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards. Government estimates project that about 2,800 Sikhs were killed in Delhi and 3,350 nationwide,whilst other sources estimate the number of deaths at about 8,000–17,000.

The 2022 Indian National Congress presidential election was an internal party election that was held to elect the next president of the Indian National Congress. The election was held on 17 October 2022 and counting of votes took place on 19 October 2022. Mallikarjun Kharge won the election amassing 7,897 votes compared to 1,072 of Shashi Tharoor.
Harminder Singh Nihang,also known as Harminder Singh Mintoo,was a prominent Sikh militant and the 7th leader of Khalistan Liberation Force. Nihang was instrumental in reinvigorating the Khalistan Movement in the 21st Century. Nihang died in police custody.
