Banka, or Bankagooma, is a minor Mande language of Mali. There is a reasonable degree of mutual intelligibility with Duun.

The name was changed from Bhagalpur University to Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University in 1991 in commemoration of Tilka Majhi, a freedom fighter.

Jasidih–Dumka–Rampurhat line is a single 5 ft 6 in broad gauge track from Jasidih in Deoghar District in Santhal Pargana division of Jharkhand state to Rampurhat in Birbhum District of West Bengal state. The line connects the cultural capital of Jharkhand Deoghar to the subcapital of Jharkhand, Dumka. The Jasidih–Dumka section falls under Asansol Division of Eastern Railway and Dumka–Rampurhat section under Howrah Division of Eastern Railway.

Banka junction railway station is the biggest railway station of Banka district, Bihar and serves the city of Banka. It falls under the Malda railway division of the Eastern Railway zone of the Indian Railways. It is connected to Indian cities of Patna, Bhagalpur, Jamalpur, Jasidih and Dumka through daily Passenger and Express trains. As of October 2016, four Passenger trains and one Express train originate and just as many depart from the railway station.

The Dumka–Bhagalpur line is an Indian railway line connecting Dumka on the Jasidih–Dumka–Rampurhat line with Bhagalpur Junction on the Sahibganj loop. This 115-kilometre (71 mi) track is under the jurisdiction of Malda Division of Eastern Railway.
