Phylbert Angelli Ranollo Fagestrom (born October 17, 1987), known professionally as Bea Alonzo, is a Filipino actress. She is best known for playing dramatic roles in romantic drama films. Her notable films include The Mistress (2012), A Second Chance (2015) and The Love Affair (2015). Alonzo's films have grossed ₱2.4 billion worldwide, making her the third highest-grossing box office star of all time.

Early life

Phylbert Angelli Ranollo Fagestrom, born on October 17, 1987, in Rizal, is the daughter of Philip Fagestrom and Mary Anne Ranollo. Alonzo's father is British. [1] [2] Her parents are separated, and she has a younger brother on her maternal side. [3] Completing her elementary education in 2001 at the Jose Abad Santos Memorial School in Quezon City, she attended The Fisher Valley College in Taguig, Ususan Elementary School in Ususan and Colegio de Santa Ana in Taguig.

Career

In June 2008, Alonzo released her debut album The Real Me under Star Records. It was also in mid-2008 when it was announced that she would play the leading character Betty Pengson in the TV sitcom Yo Soy Betty La Fea , which originated from Colombia. The Philippines' version was entitled I Love Betty La Fea . The show premiered in September 2008 at the primetime slot; it ran for eight consecutive months.

In December 2011, Alonzo renewed her contract with ABS-CBN. She was set to do two movies under Star Cinema and a reunion drama, The Mistress , with her on-screen partner, John Lloyd Cruz. [4] Alonzo starred in the 2014 international hit TV drama Sana Bukas pa ang Kahapon (Tomorrow Belongs To Me), opposite Paulo Avelino and Albert Martinez.

In 2019, Alonzo appeared in the horror film Eerie [5] and the dramatic film Unbreakable . [6] She also started pursuing writing for film in 2019 by enrolling in the writing workshop [7] of Philippine screenwriter, journalist, novelist, and playwright Ricky Lee. This year, she was also included in the list of Variety.com [8] and the International Film Festival & Awards Macao as among Asia's biggest stars poised for international stardom. [9]

On July 1, 2021, GMA News announced [10] that she transferred to GMA Network as she signed with exclusive contract after almost 19 years under ABS-CBN. [10]

Personal life

In 2022, Alonzo invested more than 500,000 (about ₱30 million) in an apartment in Madrid, Spain. As a result, she was given permanent resident privileges in the country, which extends to her mother. [11] Alonzo, however, clarified that she does not plan to obtain Spanish citizenship. [12]

Alonzo and Gerald Anderson’s relationship ended in 2019, when Bea said Gerald had ghosted her. “Apart from, of course the whole infidelity thing and the whole ghosting thing, I think I’m mad at him more because he gaslighted me,” Alonzo said. [13]

On July 18, 2023, Alonzo announced through an Instagram post her engagement to actor Dominic Roque. [14] [15]

Boy Abunda in Fast Talk with Boy Abunda confirmed that on February 6, 2024, Alonzo and Roque have parted ways: "As we talk today, yes, hiwalay po si Dominic at tsaka si Bea." [16] In a joint Instagram post on February 11, 2024, Alonzo and Dominic Roque confirmed the end of their relationship. “After much thought, consideration, and care, we have mutually decided to amicably end our engagement,” they wrote. [17]

In 24 Oras, May 2 interview, Atty. Jose Manalo Garcia and Shirley Kuan confirmed Alonzo’s filing of 3 Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 complaints, including “false” reports of her alleged tax evasion at the Quezon City Prosecutors Office of Ana Fe Abad against Cristy Fermin, Ogie Diaz, online "Ogie Diaz Showbiz Update"-"Showbiz Now Na" co-hosts and an unnamed netizen. The 21st PMPC Star Awards for Television ceremony was held at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater in Ateneo de Manila University, Quezon City on November 18, 2007 and broadcast over RPN 9 on November 25, 2007. The ceremony was hosted by Boy Abunda, Pops Fernandez, Ara Mina at Lorna Tolentino.
