Bombs Over Providence was a Canadian pop-punk/punk rock band from Brampton, Ontario, whose songs were mainly about politics. [1] They were one of the first bands signed to the independent punk label Underground Operations. [2] [3]

History

Bombs over Providence was formed in Brampton, by former Marilyn's Vitamins bassist Adam Cook (aka Adam Peurile) on bass, [4] Mike Smythe and Shawn Dickey (also ex-Marilyn's Vitamins) on guitar and vocals, and drummer Chris Corless. The band released their first album, Liberty's Ugly Best Friend in 2003. [5] The songs' lyrics concern mainly issues in Ontario politics. [6] [7] That year, they also contributed some songs to the compilation album (coles) Notes from the Underground, showcasing bands signed to Underground Operations. [8]

In 2004, the band toured with Sum 41 [ citation needed ] and Protest the Hero. [9] [10]

In 2005, the band released their second album Shake Your Body Politic through Underground Operations. [11] Most of the lyrics were written by Cook. [12] Bombs Over Providence broke up in 2006. [13]

Adam Alexander Carson is the drummer of the alternative rock band AFI. He and Davey Havok are the two original members left in the lineup. Carson was also a member of Influence 13 – a band formed by Nick 13, Jade Puget, Geoff Kresge, and two other friends.

Adam Freeland is an English record producer and DJ. He is also the owner and creative director of the record label Marine Parade, which has released material by artists including Evil Nine, ILS, Alex Metric and Jape. Born in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England, he first began DJing in 1991, originally mixing deep house and later drum and bass. After becoming an in-demand DJ around Britain, he released his first mix album Coastal Breaks (1996) and formed the electronic music duo Tsunami One with Kevin Beber. From 1999 to 2001, Freeland hosted a show on Friday night on London's Kiss 100 FM. In 2000, he released his debut studio album, Now & Them.

Underground Operations was an independent punk rock record label based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Established in 1995, the label was originally based in Ajax, Ontario. Operated by Mark Spicoluk, former Closet Monster member and former bass player for Avril Lavigne, this label was one of the most successful independent labels in Canada. Spicoluk started the label when he was 16 years of age. Underground Operations shut down on December 2, 2016.

In 2007, their biography (edited) was: "We are a political punk band that believes that we can contribute to creating social change and fighting injustice in singing about various issues that concern us, making the message the focal point, and expose people to our concerns and shit that makes us pissed off and frustrated...We are young and stupid, but believe that we should take this opportunity of singing in front of people to focus on important shit rather than the ho-hum drivel about relationships." Marilyn's Vitamins were a Canadian punk rock band formed in 1995 from Orangeville, Ontario, Canada, playing their last show December 28, 1999 in Toronto, Ontario. In those near-five years they released two albums on Raw Energy and 7"s on Ductape, and Ugly Pop Vinyl. A posthumous collection was released on Underground Operations in 2003. The band consisted of Rob Moir (guitar), Danny Complex (guitar/vocals), Colin Lichti (vocals), Adam Cook (bass/vocals), Jeff Breen (guitar), Kristoffer Wood (bass) and Shawn Dickey (drums). Members of the band went on to form Bombs Over Providence, Hostage Life and Dead Letter Dept. Their lyrics mainly dealt with various political issues of the time.

Math the Band is an American chiptune-based synthpunk band from Providence, Rhode Island formed in 2002 by Kevin Steinhauser. Originally being a solo project by Steinhauser, the band's style has been sometimes called Nintendocore. The band has performed over 1000 shows throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada, and the United Kingdom, touring with bands, artists and rappers such as Andrew W.K., Japanther, Wheatus, MC Frontalot, Horse the Band MC Chris, Peelander-Z, Anamanaguchi and MC Lars. Calabrese is an American rock band that is based out of Phoenix, Arizona. The band consists of three brothers; bassist/vocalist Jimmy Calabrese, guitarist/vocalist Bobby Calabrese and drummer Davey Calabrese. Calabrese has been described as "Melodic, hook-laden, catchy, fun, Rock with a Punk attitude”. Retox is an American hardcore punk band that formed in 2011. The four-piece was founded by Justin Pearson and Gabe Serbian, both of whom had previously performed together in The Locust, Holy Molar and Head Wound City. The two additional members are Thor Dickey and Michael Crain. Serbian was replaced by Brian Evans in 2013. Retox has since been signed to Ipecac Recordings and Epitaph Records and released three studio albums: Ugly Animals (2011), YPLL (2013) and Beneath California (2015).

Electronic rock is a music genre that involves a combination of rock music and electronic music, featuring instruments typically found within both genres. It originates from the late 1960s when rock bands began incorporating electronic instrumentation into their music. Electronic rock acts usually fuse elements from other music styles, including punk rock, industrial rock, hip hop, techno and synth-pop, which has helped spur subgenres such as indietronica, dance-punk and electroclash.
