Brassylic acid is an organic compound with chemical formula (CH2)11(CO2H)2. A white solid, it is the C13-dicarboxylic acid. It is prepared by oxidation of erucic acid, which is abundant in some seed oils. Pelargonic acid is the coproduct. In the industrial setting, brassylic acid is used to produce specialty nylons, e.g. nylon 1313. [1]

Iminodiacetic acid is the organic compound with the formula HN(CH2CO2H)2, often abbreviated to IDA. A white solid, the compound is a dicarboxylic acid amine (the nitrogen atom forms a secondary amino group, not an imino group as the name suggests). The iminodiacetate dianion is a tridentate ligand, forming metal complexes by forming two, fused, five membered chelate rings. Dicarboxylic aminoaciduria is a rare form of aminoaciduria which is an autosomal recessive disorder of urinary glutamate and aspartate due to genetic errors related to transport of these amino acids. Mutations resulting in a lack of expression of the SLC1A1 gene, a member of the solute carrier family, are found to cause development of dicarboxylic aminoaciduria in humans. SLC1A1 encodes for EAAT3 which is found in the neurons, intestine, kidney, lung, and heart. EAAT3 is part of a family of high affinity glutamate transporters which transport both glutamate and aspartate across the plasma membrane.
