California's 1st State Assembly district is one of 80 California State Assembly districts. It is currently represented by Republican Megan Dahle of Bieber.

District profile

The district stretches along the eastern edge of the state from the Oregon border to Lake Tahoe, wrapping around the Sacramento Valley along the northern Sierra Nevada. The district is primarily rural and heavily Republican and at 27, 276 square miles, is the largest assembly district by area in California. [2]

It includes the northern Sierra Nevada and northeastern suburbs of Sacramento, stretching south to Death Valley. It encompasses Alpine, Inyo, Mono, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, and Sierra counties, as well as parts of El Dorado, Sacramento, and Yuba counties. It includes the Sacramento suburbs of Roseville, Folsom, Orangevale, Rocklin, and Lincoln, and the mountain towns of Quincy, South Lake Tahoe, Truckee, Mammoth Lakes, and Bishop. The district is represented by Republican Kevin Kiley.

He served as mayor of Redlands, California, from 2010 to 2014, and as the president of the Inland Empire Division of the League of California Cities. Aguilar served on the Redlands City Council from 2006 until his election to Congress.
