Catherine Walsh (born 1964) is an Irish poet.

Biography

She was born in Dublin, 1964, and grew up there and in rural Wexford. She is the founder and co-editor of hardPressed Poetry with Billy Mills. She lives in Limerick. [1] She served as Holloway Lecturer on the Practice of Poetry at University of California, Berkeley for 2012/13.

Eavan Boland Irish poet, author, and professor

Eavan Aisling Boland was an Irish poet, author, and professor. She was a professor at Stanford University, where she had taught from 1996. Her work deals with the Irish national identity, and the role of women in Irish history. A number of poems from Boland's poetry career are studied by Irish students who take the Leaving Certificate. Her most recent poetry collection, published in February 2022. is "Life Holds Its Breath."

Billy Mills is an Irish experimental poet. He was born in Dublin, and lived in Barcelona from 1986 to 1989, after which he taught English in Eastbourne. He lives in Limerick.

The Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award is an Irish poetry award for a collection of poems by an author who has not previously been published in collected form. It is confined to poets born on the island of Ireland, or who have Irish nationality, or are long-term residents of Ireland. It is based on an open competition whose closing date is in July each year. The award was founded by the Patrick Kavanagh Society in 1971 to commemorate the poet.
