Cheryl Hole (born 18 October 1993) is the stage name of Luke Underwood-Bleach, an English drag queen from Chelmsford [2] in Essex who is known for being one of the first contestants on RuPaul's Drag Race UK (2019) and later the first series of RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs. the World (2022). Cheryl Hole's act is based on former Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole. [3] [4] [5]

Career

On 3 April 2019 Cheryl Hole and her fiancé Haydn took part in the Comedy Central show Your Face Or Mine? hosted by Jimmy Carr and Katherine Ryan. [6] [7]

On 21 August 2019, Hole was announced as one of the 10 queens to be competing in the first series of RuPaul's Drag Race UK . [8] In episode 6, she lip synched to Cheryl's "Call My Name" in front of guest judge Cheryl, sending Blu Hydrangea home. She was eliminated in episode 7 (the penultimate episode) after losing a lip sync to Baga Chipz to Amy Winehouse's Tears Dry on Their Own. [9] Hole reached fourth place in the contest. [10]

On 28 November 2019, Hole, alongside the cast of series one of RuPaul's Drag Race UK, embarked on a 12-gig UK tour, [11] hosted by Drag Race alum Alyssa Edwards. [12] [13]

In December 2019, Cheryl Hole was unveiled as Virgin Media's Christmas "fairy gift mother" for their Christmas campaign giving gift and surprises to Virgin Media customers. [14] [15]

In July 2020, Cheryl Hole started her new podcast called Girl Group Gossip produced by World of Wonder, [16] where Cheryl is joined by a co-host and a special guest related to the topic of that episode. [17] [18]

In November 2020 Cheryl Hole joined RuPaul's Drag Race UK Series 1 winner The Vivienne on the UK version of the Netflix YouTube series I Like to Watch for three consecutive episodes. [19]

On the 24 September 2021, Cheryl Hole and her partner Haydn tied the knot, their last names were then double barrelled to Underwood-Bleach. [20]

In January 2022, she was announced as one of the nine contestants on the first series of RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs. the World . [21] After falling into the bottom for her performance in the ball challenge, she was eliminated by Janey Jacké from the first season of the Dutch franchise, who won the lip sync against Canada's Drag Race Season 1 contestant, Jimbo. She was the second queen eliminated in the competition, ultimately placing eighth overall, and released her debut single "Need the Power" on 11 February 2022 after her elimination. [22] The single was co-written by Cheryl alongside the creative team behind fellow Drag Race star Priyanka's Taste Test EP. [23] She released the song's music video the same day, [24] featuring numerous guests including fellow RuPaul's Drag Race UK stars Vanity Milan, River Medway and Elektra Fence. [25] In March 2022 Cheryl was announced to have been voted by her RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs the World castmates as the season's Miss Congeniality, sharing the title with Janey Jacké and Jujubee, with Pangina Heals and Blu Hydrangea casting their vote for Cheryl. In 2022 she made her West End debut in the play Death Drop [27]

She appeared on the 16 August 2023 edition of BBC One's Celebrity MasterChef . Speaking to BBC News before her appearance she highlighted issues facing the LGBTQ+ community and said the appearance of LGBTQ+ people on television was a chance to "have our voices and stories heard and show we're nothing to be feared". [28]

I Like to Watch is a 2019 American web series hosted by drag queens Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova. The series was created by Netflix, and streams on the company's YouTube channel. I Like to Watch films its hosts as they view and react to various Netflix Original Programming and licensed films streaming on Netflix. The first season aired from November 21, 2019, to March 21, 2020. A second season, recorded in the duo's homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, premiered on May 23, 2020. The third season, still recorded from home but with the hosts together in person before moving to a new set, premiered on February 20, 2021. The series won a People's Voice Webby Award in 2022. In 2023 the series won a Bronze Anthem Award in the Awareness & Media categories for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

RuPaul's Drag Race is an American reality competition television series, the first in the Drag Race franchise, produced by World of Wonder for Logo TV, WOW Presents Plus, VH1 and, beginning with the fifteenth season, MTV. The show documents RuPaul in the search for "America's next drag superstar". RuPaul plays the role of host, mentor, and head judge for this series, as contestants are given different challenges each week. Contestants are judged by a panel that includes RuPaul, Michelle Visage, an alternating third main judge of either Carson Kressley, Ross Mathews, or Ts Madison, and one or more guest judges, who critique their progress throughout the competition. The title of the show is a play on drag queen and drag racing, and the title sequence and song "Drag Race" both have a drag-racing theme.

Airline Inthyrath, known by her stage name Jujubee, is an American drag queen, reality television personality, and recording artist from Lowell, Massachusetts. She first rose to prominence in 2010 as a contestant on the second season of RuPaul's Drag Race, and later returned to compete on the first and fifth seasons of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, and the first series of RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs. the World (2022), becoming one of the most popular queens from the franchise. She has the unique distinction of being the only contestant to reach the finale of the competition four times. Additionally, she was a main cast member on the makeover television series RuPaul's Drag U (2010–2012), Dragnificent (2019–2020), and RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race (2022). In 2021, she competed in the first season of Paramount+ singing competition Queen of the Universe.

<i>RuPauls Drag Race All Stars</i> American reality television series

RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars is an American reality competition spin off edition of the original RuPaul's Drag Race, which is produced by World of Wonder, for Logo TV and later VH1. The show premiered on October 22, 2012, on Logo TV, before relocating to VH1. However, it was announced on February 20, 2020, on the show's official Twitter account that the fifth season would premiere on June 5, 2020, on Showtime. Following the cast announcement on May 8, 2020, producers announced that the show would remain airing on VH1 instead of Showtime due to the COVID-19 pandemic which caused "various scheduling and programming adjustments". On February 24, 2021, Paramount+ announced via Twitter that the streaming service would be the new home to the series for the sixth season.

Ryan A. Taylor, known professionally as Trinity "The Tuck" Taylor or just Trinity the Tuck, is an American drag queen, television personality, and recording artist best known for competing on the ninth season of RuPaul's Drag Race and for winning the fourth season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, shared with Monét X Change. As part of her victory, she was awarded her own online television series, later titled The Vivienne Takes on Hollywood. "Break Up (Bye Bye)" is a song recorded by British drag girl group the Frock Destroyers for the Girl Group Battle Royale challenge during their stint on the first series of the reality television competition, RuPaul's Drag Race UK. During the episode the contestants had to create girl groups to participate in the challenge; there were two versions of the song released, the first being by Divina de Campo, Baga Chipz and Blu Hydrangea. The alternate version was released by Filth Harmony, consisting of Drag Race UK winner The Vivienne, Cheryl Hole and Crystal, however the latter did not chart. The song was released on 31 October 2019. The song was also included in the band's debut album, Frock4Life, which was released 11 December 2020. The song was primarily written by Leland, with De Campo, Chipzs and Hydrangea writing the lyrics for their individual verses.

<i>God Shave the Queens</i> British documentary series

God Shave the Queens is a documentary streaming television series about the tour following each series of RuPaul's Drag Race UK. The show originally premiered internationally on 10 September 2020 on WOW Presents Plus internationally, and BBC iPlayer on 15 November 2020 in the United Kingdom.

The Frock Destroyers are a musical group with RuPaul's Drag Race UK contestants Baga Chipz, Blu Hydrangea, and Divina de Campo. They made the UK Top 40 in 2019 with "Break Up Bye Bye", which charted at number 35 on the UK Singles Chart. There was a campaign to have the Frock Destroyers represent the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. The group's name is a pun on the pornographic double act, the Cock Destroyers.

George Ward, better known by the stage name Cherry Valentine, was an English drag queen and mental health nurse who competed in the second series of the television show RuPaul's Drag Race UK. Raised in a Romanichal community, Ward has been credited as the first contestant on the Drag Race franchise to acknowledge his Romani heritage. In 2022, he addressed his background in the BBC documentary film Cherry Valentine: Gypsy Queen and Proud, and in an episode of the documentary series God Shave the Queens. Following Ward's suicide in 2022, a memorial concert and fundraiser was held at London's Clapham Grand.

The second series of RuPaul's Drag Race UK began airing on 14 January 2021 on the BBC Three section of BBC iPlayer and WOW Presents Plus streaming service. The series was confirmed and casting was closed on 15 November 2019. Production was suspended mid 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but resumed late 2020. The cast of 12 new queens was announced on 16 December 2020 and the series premiered on 14 January 2021. It was also announced a special episode RuPaul's Drag Race UK: Queens on Lockdown would air, following the queens during the first lockdown. This special episode was released on 12 February.
