Centro de Convenciones Agua Viva [1] (formerly known as Coliseo Amauta) is the biggest multi-use indoor arena in Peru, located in the southern zone of the Lima District in Lima, Peru. The arena has a capacity for 20,000 people, which can vary depending on use. It originally opened in 1946.

It is the largest covered arena in Peru, today it is being renovated by its current owner, Agua Viva Church. In the past it hosted events such as a Soda Stereo concert in 1987, and it was the home of the children's TV program Nubeluz , who used the arena for the broadcasting of the show until 1995 when they moved to Panamericana Television studios in Santa Beatriz.

Events

The arena hosts sport events as basketball and volleyball. Today it is used for evangelic events and church services on Sunday.

In 1982, Amauta Coliseum was the site of three big events including the Miss Universe 1982 on July 26; the Women's World Championship of Volleyball, from September 12 to September 25); and the OTI Song Contest, on November 27.

On July 26, 1982, the date of the finale of the Miss Universe contest, the stadium was attacked with dynamite. [2]

It is preceded by two or three months of preliminary events, with the awarding of corporate prizes by sponsors.

Miss Universe 1982 was the 31st Miss Universe pageant, held on 26 July 1982 at the Coliseo Amauta in Lima, Peru. it was the first time in the pageant's history that the event was held in South America. Seventy-seven contestants competed in the pageant. Karen Dianne Baldwin of Canada was crowned by Irene Saez of Venezuela. This is the first time Canada won the pageant.

Jose "Buga" Abreu Coliseum is a sports arena that is located in Isabela, Puerto Rico that seats 5,000 for basketball & volleyball games. The home of the Isabela Bantams men's basketball team and the Isabela Pullets women's basketball team. The Coliseum will host the Taekwwondo events for the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games.

The 1982 FIVB Women's World Championship was the ninth edition of the tournament, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB. It was held from 12 to 25 September 1982 at six venues in six different cities in Peru. The finals were held at the Coliseo Amauta in Lima, Peru.

The Coliseo Eduardo Dibos is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in San Borja, Lima, Peru, exactly between Angamos Ave. and Aviacion Ave. The arena has a capacity for 4,600 people. This arena is used to host sport events as volleyball and basketball, also many other secondary sports. It is also used for circus events and Bugs Bunny on Ice in August 2006. The Dibos Coliseum, with the Coliseo Mariscal Caceres, are the most important venues for non-football sports in Lima. This venue also hosts concerts as in 1994 the Gaitan Castro brothers were the first Peruvian artists to sell out the arena for a concert. A boxing event sold out featuring the WBA world champion Kina Malpartida and Halana Dos Santos on 20 June 2009. It was remodeled to house the venue in the 3x3 basketball and the traditional 5x5 basketball competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games.

Sport in Lima is well supported by venues and clubs. The city of Lima has varied sports venues for association football, volleyball and basketball, many of which are located within private clubs. A popular sport among Limeans is fronton, a racquet sport similar to squash invented in Lima. The city is home to seven international-class golf courses. Equestrian is popular in Lima for which there are private clubs as well as horse racing which is centered on the Hipódromo de Monterrico. The most popular sport in Lima by far is association football with many club teams being located in the city.

The XVI Bolivarian Games were a multi-sport event held in 2009 in Sucre, Bolivia. The competitions in Sucre took place from 15–26 November. A number of Bolivian cities hosted some of the sporting events, including Cochabamba, Santa Cruz and Tarija. Also, events were held outside of Bolivia, with Guayaquil, Lima, Quito and Salinas hosting a number of competitions. The Games were organized by the Bolivarian Sports Organization (ODEBO).

Coliseo Gran Chimú is an indoor sporting arena located in Trujillo, Peru. The capacity of the arena is 7,000 spectators and has hosted some 2011 FIVB Women's Junior World Championship, 1982 FIVB Women's World Championship, and Peru women's national volleyball team matches. It hosts indoor sporting events such as basketball, volleyball, and boxing.

Arena Coliseo is an indoor arena in Mexico City, Mexico located at República del Perú 77 in the Cuauhtémoc borough. The arena is primarily used for professional wrestling, or lucha libre, shows promoted by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). The building was completed in 1943, built by Salvador Lutteroth, founder and owner of CMLL and served as the main venue for CMLL from 1943 until 1953 when Arena México was completed and became the main venue for Lutteroth's promotion. Comunidad Cristiana Agua Viva is a charismatic evangelical megachurch in Lima, Peru. As of 2017, it has seven locations in Lima Province.

The 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Challenger Cup was the inaugural edition of the FIVB Volleyball Women's Challenger Cup, a new annual women's international volleyball tournament contested by six national teams that acts as a qualifier for the FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League. The tournament was held in Lima, Peru between 20 and 24 June.

Badminton competitions at the 2022 Bolivarian Games in Valledupar, Colombia were held from 25 to 29 June 2022 at Coliseo Arena de Sal in Zipaquirá, a sub-venue in the Cundinamarca department.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">San Martín barracks</span> Former barracks in Peru

San Martín barracks, originally Junín barracks, was a military instalation inaugurated in 1921 to house the Mounted Grenadiers Regiment of the Argentine delegation that visited the country for the Centennial of the Independence of Peru. Located the 13th block of the Avenida del Ejército, it was subsequently closed and auctioned in 2009 and demolished a year later.
