The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is an American period comedy-drama television series that was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, and premiered on Amazon Prime Video on March 17, 2017. It takes place mainly in the late 1950s and early 1960s, with flashforwards to later decades in the final season, and stars Rachel Brosnahan as Miriam "Midge" Maisel: a New York housewife who discovers she has a talent for stand-up comedy and pursues a career in this field. It also stars Alex Borstein, Michael Zegen, Marin Hinkle, Tony Shalhoub, Kevin Pollak, Caroline Aaron, Jane Lynch and Luke Kirby. The pilot episode received critical acclaim and the series was picked up by Amazon Studios. The fifth and final season premiered on April 14, 2023, and concluded on May 26, 2023.

Mayes Castillero Rubeo is a Mexican costume designer. She is known for her work on the films Apocalypto (2006), Avatar (2009), John Carter (2012), World War Z (2013), Warcraft (2016), Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and Jojo Rabbit (2019), the lattermost of which earned her Academy Award and BAFTA Award nominations.

The Costume Designers Guild Award for Excellence in Period Costume Design for Television Series was awarded for the first time in 2000, honoring 1999 television. While it did honor period costumes, it also honored fantasy television, and the award was titled Costume Designers Guild Award for Excellence in Period/Fantasy Television Series. Those two genres were separated into their own awards categories in 2016, resulting in the current award designation.

The Costume Designers Guild Award for Excellence in Costume Design for Sci-Fi/Fantasy Television was awarded for the first time in 2018, for television airing the previous year. Previously, it honored both Fantasy/Sci-Fi series, in the category Excellence in Fantasy Television Series, and Period costuming together, with the award titled Costume Designers Guild Award for Excellence in Period/Fantasy Television Series.

The 25th Costume Designers Guild Awards, honoring excellence in film, television, and short form costume design for 2022, were held on February 27, 2023, at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles. The nominees were announced on January 12, 2023. The ceremony was hosted by Tituss Burgess. Special honors were awarded to Angela Bassett, Bette Midler, and costume designers Deborah L. Scott and Rachael M. Stanley.

The 26th Costume Designers Guild Awards, honoring excellence in film, television, and short form costume design for 2023, were held on February 21, 2024, at NeueHouse Hollywood in Los Angeles. The nominations were announced on January 4, 2024.

The 28th Art Directors Guild Excellence in Production Design Awards, honoring the best production designers in film, television and media of 2023, took place on February 10, 2024, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Ovation Hollywood, California. The nominations were announced on January 9, 2024. Max Greenfield hosted the ceremony.
