Disney Junior is a Dutch pay television block on Disney Channel and a television station for young children, owned by The Walt Disney Company. It shares its video feed with Disney Junior Scandinavia and featured an additional Dutch audio track for its viewers in the Netherlands and Flanders. It closed down in the Netherlands, but continues broadcasting in Flanders. Viewers in Wallonia, Brussels and Luxembourg receive the French version, which has the same schedule.

History

On 3 May 2010 Disney Junior was first launched as Playhouse Disney in the Netherlands and on 22 June in Belgium. It also launched under the same name as a block on the main Disney Channel, replacing Jetix Play [1] Before September 10, 2011, this channel was called Playhouse Disney, the last show as Playhouse Disney was Special Agent Oso at 6:30 PM. [2] [3]

In 2018, one third of Disney Belgium's employees were laid off, as Disney decided to move its Benelux subsidiary to France, including among others Disney Channel activities. [4] [5]

Ziggo announced that Disney Junior as a TV channel would close down in the Netherlands on 1 April 2019. Disney Channels Benelux is planning to distribute its programs differently (on Disney+). [6] [7] The Dutch channel continues broadcasting in Belgium.

After a year absence, the channel's programs moved to "Mickey Mornings" on Disney Channel on 17 November 2020.

Disney Channel is the Dutch edition based on the American channel of the same name, owned by the Walt Disney Company. The channel is broadcasting free-to-cable, and all content is dubbed in Dutch. The channel features a mix of original sitcoms, teen drama series, animation movies and original movies. English audio is also available on the operators Ziggo, Canal Digitaal, TV Vlaanderen, Caiway, Proximus and Telenet. There are two different versions with local advertisements. While currently not using a slogan, the tagline 'Dat moet je meemaken!' has been used in the past.

The channel used to have a pay television 24-hour feed that was distributed throughout the Netherlands and Belgium (Flanders); however, it was closed down on 31 July 2018. Viewers in Belgium (Wallonia) and Luxembourg received Disney XD France, until that feed was later shut down in 2020.

Stingray Lite TV is a non-stop music television channel that brings mainly (soft) pop music videos from the 80s, 90s and today. 24/7. 2Connect Media BV launched the channel as Lite TV on 17 December 2007. In June 2014 the Stingray Group acquired Lite TV from the Archibald Media Group. On 1 April 2015, the channel has received its current name, before it was called Lite TV. Stingray Lite TV can be received via cable and IPTV in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Topics such as the Dutch East Indies, Netherlands Waterland, railroads, mills, work, food and household are broadcast. Paramount Network is a Dutch free-to-cable television channel in the Netherlands, based on the American rebranded Paramount Network. The television channels launched as Spike on 1 October 2015. It was the third Spike channel next to the US and UK version of the channel. The television channel aimed at an audience of mainly men. Initially it only broadcast daily between 21:00 and 2:30, time-sharing with Nickelodeon. As of 12 December 2016 the channel is broadcasting 24 hours a day in the Netherlands. Until 6 January 2021, the channel was also available in Flanders. On 24 May 2022, the channel was renamed by Paramount Network.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ziggo Sport</span> Television channel

Ziggo Sport is a sports television channel in the Netherlands, operated by Ziggo and owned by VodafoneZiggo. It is only available for Ziggo subscribers and broadcasts a variety of sports with a focus on major sporting events, a weekly talk show called "Peptalk," and sports-related films and documentaries. It also has a paid counterpart, Ziggo Sport Totaal, which can also be received by non-Ziggo subscribers. The channel started with a repeating promotional film on 2 November 2015, and officially launched on 12 November 2015.

100% NL TV is a non-stop music television channel that airs mainly music videos of Dutch artists. The channel launched through cable operator Ziggo on 1 October 2013. It is a collaboration between radio station 100% NL and music channel Lite TV. The channel broadcasts 24 hours a day. It airs across the Netherlands.

Action Now! was a Dutch pay television movie channel, broadcasting in the Netherlands and Flanders. The programming of the channel mainly consisted of action movies. In November 2008 Dutch largest cable company Ziggo removed Action Now! from its network, followed by Caiway on 1 April 2009. The availability of Action Now! dropped considerably in the Netherlands, resulting in the closure of the channel on 31 May 2009.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">BBC First (Dutch TV channel)</span> Television channel

BBC First is the localised Dutch version of BBC First, with Dutch subtitles, Dutch voice-overs between programmes and during commercial breaks, and localised advertisements. It is a pay television channel dedicated to British television drama and crime series. The programming consists not only of BBC productions, but also of productions of, among others, ITV. It launched in the Netherlands on 16 May 2015 and in Belgium on 4 June 2015. The channel is distributed by BBC Benelux, a division of BBC Studios.

Fox Life was an international pay television network, launched by the Fox Networks Group in 2004. The network has been discontinued in several markets over time due to the acquisition of 21st Century Fox by Disney in 2019.
