Zubeen Garg is an Indian singer, songwriter, composer, lyricist, music director, music producer, actor, film director, film producer, screenwriter, poet and philanthropist. He primarily works for and sings in the Assamese, Bengali and Hindi-language film and music industries, but has sung in many other languages and dialects, including Bishnupriya Manipuri, Boro, English, Goalpariya, Kannada, Karbi, Khasi, Malayalam, Marathi, Mising, Nepali, Odia, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Tiwa. He is also a multi-instrumentalist and plays 12 instruments including anandalahari, dhol, dotara, drums, guitar, harmonica, harmonium, mandolin, keyboard, tabla and various percussion instruments. He is Assam's highest-paid singer.
Assamese cinema is the Indian film industry of Assamese language. It is based in Assam, India. The industry was born in 1935 when Jyoti Prasad Agarwala released his movie Joymoti. Since then the Assamese cinema has developed a slow-paced, sensitive style. In the beginning the industry were called Jollywood, for Agarwala's Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio.
Jatin Bora is an Indian actor and director who has appeared in Assamese language films since 1989. He is also an actor and director in some mobile theatre (Bhramyaman) groups of Assam, including Aabahan, Hengool, Ashirbaad, Bhagyadevi, Kohinoor, Itihas and Surjya.
Nipon Goswami was an Indian actor and theatre artist associated with Assamese-language films. He was one of the veteran actors of Assamese Film Industry. He started his acting career as a stage actor and later established himself as a film actor. His most notable for his work in the 1969 film Dr. Bezbarua as well as Piyoli Phukan, Tumi Aahibaane and Aparoopa.
Dr. Bezbarua is a 1969 Indian Assamese language thriller film, the first film of this genre in the language, directed by Brajen Barua and produced by Rangghar Cine Productions. The film was released on 7 November 1969. It was marked as the beginning of success of so-called commercial movies in Assamese Film industry. It was also first time the outdoor and indoor shooting entirely took place in various locations of Assam.
Tumi Jodi Kuwa is an Assamese musical, romantic drama film directed, dialogue and scriptwritten by Simple Gogoi and produced by Teron Jitumoni under the banner of L.N. Films. Cast list of the film are Prasenjit Borah, Jupitora Bhuyan, Munmi Kalita, Mahika Sharma, Rupam Sharma, Prince, Bhaskar Ranjan, Ranjan Dutta, Krishna. The makeup is done by Akash Gogoi, Subhash and Vijayeta. The film's story is given by Gautam Rabha. The film was released on 14 June 2013. The title of the film was taken from Zubeen's song of the same name.
Hiya Diya Niya is a 2000 Indian Assamese romantic drama movie directed by Munin Barua and produced under Pooja Motion Pictures. The music was composed by Zubeen Garg. It was released on 25 February 2000. This film marked Assamese's first film to be shot outside India.
Anindita Paul is an Indian singer who sings predominantly in Assamese, Bengali and Hindi languages.
Gaane Ki Aane is a 2016 Indian Assamese language musical romance film directed by Rajesh Jashpal. It stars Zubeen Garg and Parineeta Borthakur in the lead roles.
Mission China is a 2017 Indian Assamese-language action drama film directed by Zubeen Garg and produced by Garima Saikia Garg as well as Zubeen Garg himself under the banner of "Eye Creation Productions". The film features Zubeen Garg and Deeplina Deka in lead roles and Sattyakee D'com Bhuyan, Siddharth Nipon Goswami, Yankee Parashar, Parthasarathi Mahanta, Pabitra Rabha, Bibhuti Bhushan Hazarika, Tridib Lahon, Nabadweep Borgohain, Ragini Parashar and Bhashwati Bharati in supporting roles. Zubeen also wrote the script and screenplay for the film.
The Underworld is a 2018 Indian Assamese-language action thriller film featuring Zubeen Garg and Parineeta Borthakur in lead roles. Directed by Rajesh Jashpal and produced by S J Studio & Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. & Raga Films, the film also features Biju Phukan, Nipon Goswami, Pabitra Rabha, Diganta Hazarika, Utpal Das and Baharul Islam.
Pratighaat is an Indian Assamese language action drama and romance film directed by Achinta Shankar, written by Rajdweep and produced by Narendra N Sinha and Nalini Roy Gayari. The film has been released under the banner of Issue Production and distributed by Norman Studio Works. The film features Amrita Gogoi and Diganta Hazarika in lead roles while Ashramika Saikia as child artist. It is scheduled to release on 6 December 2019
Rajdweep is an Indian screenwriter, playwright, lyricist and journalist hails from Dhing, Nagaon, Assam. He has been awarded by Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan for his script 'Ishqlogy' at Cinestaan India's Storyteller's Script Contest in 2018. He is the first lyricist from Assam who writes Assamese songs in Bollywood film. He wrote the songs 'Jiri Jiri' for the film A Death In The Gunj and the bihu song for the film Jagga Jasoos. Again, he becomes the first screenwriter from Assam who signed a Bollywood film. He signed the film on 21 October 2019.
Kokaideu Bindaas is a 2019 romantic drama film released in the Assamese language.
Jonaki Mon is a 2002 Indian Assamese drama film directed by Jibanraj Barman and produced by Dinesh Kumar Rajkhowa.
Tumi Mur Mathu Mur is a 2000 Indian Assamese romantic-drama film directed by Zubeen Garg in his directorial debut and produced by Debo Borkotoky. It was released on 25 February 2000 opposite Munin Barua's romantic film Hiya Diya Niya.
Raghav is an Indian Assamese-language action film produced by JB Production and directed by Jatin Bora. The film's cast includes Jatin Bora, Nishita Goswami, Mridula Boruah, Hiranya Deka and Sumi Borah. It was released on 27 October 2023. It is the 5th highest grossing Assamese film.
Wide Angle is an upcoming Assamese language film directed by Jayanta Nath and produced by Debajyoti Bora under the banner of Swavalamban Media and Entertainment. The story is based on Noted Assamese author Dr Nagen Saikia's story "Staff Photographeror Sobi" which evolves around a photographer from the times of Assam movement.
