Russell County is a county located in the U.S. Commonwealth of Kentucky. Its county seat is Jamestown. The county was formed on December 14, 1825, from portions of Adair, Cumberland and Wayne Counties and is named for William Russell.

It is known as the closest village to Kentucky Dam. The town was relocated to its present site when Kentucky Dam and Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park replaced the former site.
Irving is a ghost town in Marshall County, Kansas, United States, located six miles southeast of the city of Blue Rapids along the Big Blue River. Irving was one of the many towns affected by "Big Dam Foolishness" during the construction of Tuttle Creek Lake about ten miles to the south. Although the lake never reached the town, the federal government forced remaining residents to vacate the town.
Golden Pond was a town in western Trigg County, Kentucky, United States. It is now the site of the headquarters of Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, 11 miles (18 km) west-southwest of Cadiz. Golden Pond was established in the 19th century and became known for its moonshining activity during the Prohibition era. This town was in an area altered during the 1930s and later by the Tennessee Valley Authority, which constructed dams to control flooding and generate electricity for a large rural area. The TVA evicted the last residents of Golden Pond in 1969, when the recreation area was established.
Smith is an unincorporated community in Harlan County, Kentucky, United States. The community lies along Kentucky State Route 987 and the Martins Fork of the Cumberland River. Smith is also home to Martins Fork Lake. The lake was constructed by the US Army Corps of Engineers as part of several flood control projects along the Cumberland River. The dam was complete and functional in November 1978. Until the early 1970s the community was served by Smith Elementary School. When plans were being made for construction to Martins Fork Lake, the school was closed and students were sent to nearby Cawood Elementary. The community post office was closed in the early 1990s. The community today is served by four churches. Pace Chapel, New Riverside Baptist Church, Full-Gospel Pentecostal Church and Faith-Holiness Church.
Gravel Switch is an area along the Paducah & Louisville Railway (PAL) between the Kentucky Dam on the Tennessee River and Grand Rivers in Livingston County, Kentucky, United States near the interchange of U.S. Route 62 and Kentucky Route 453. The gravel of the area was prized as one of the best cementing gravels for the construction of railroad track ballast. It remains a rail, barge, and transloading terminal for aggregates for Vulcan Materials Company's Grand Rivers Quarry.
Boones Creek is a neighborhood of Johnson City, in northern Washington County, Tennessee. Almost all of Boones Creek has been annexed by Johnson City, and has become a neighborhood of Johnson City. However, much of it has the postal addresses of "Gray, Tennessee". It extends along Boone's Creek and other nearby tributaries of Boone Lake, from the strip of restaurants, hotels and other businesses around the intersection of Boone's Creek Road and Interstate 26, northeastwards to the older business district at the intersection of 354 and State Route 36, and up to Boone Lake, formerly the Watauga River.
Touristville is an unincorporated community in Wayne County, Kentucky, in the United States.
The Marshall County High School shooting occurred at Marshall County High School near Benton, Kentucky, on January 23, 2018. The gunman, 15-year-old student Gabe Parker, opened fire in an open area at the school, murdering two students and injuring 14 others.
