East Jakarta (Indonesian : Jakarta Timur; Betawi : Jakarte Beletan) is the largest of the five administrative cities (kota administrasi) which form the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, Indonesia. It had a population of 2,693,896 at the 2010 Census [3] and 3,037,139 at the 2020 Census, [4] making it also the most populous of the five administrative cities within Jakarta. East Jakarta is not self-governed and does not have a city council, hence it is not classified as a proper municipality.
East Jakarta is bounded by North Jakarta to the north, Bekasi to the east, Depok to the south, and South Jakarta and Central Jakarta to the west.
The mayor's office is located in the Administrative Village (Kelurahan) of Pulo Gebang, in Cakung District.
East Jakarta is subdivided into ten districts (kecamatan), listed below with their areas and their populations at the 2010 Census and 2020 Census: [5]

In the past, in East Jakarta, there are 23 Sugar mills such as Setu, Jatiwarna, Ceger, Kalijereng, Pedongkelan (Cimanggis), Palsigunung, Klender, Pondokjati and Cibubur is open in 1914 and is closed due to the 1997 Asian financial crisis.
The sugar mills were first open in Klender ((in Dutch): Suikerfabriek Klender) in 1905.
Depok is a landlocked city in West Java province, and located within Jakarta metropolitan area in Indonesia. It has an area of 200.29 km2. It had a population of 1,738,600 at the 2010 Census and 2,056,400 at the 2020 Census, resulting in a density of 10,267 people per km2. Depok was declared as a separate city on 20 April 1999, having previously been part of Bogor Regency.
Belitung is an island on the east coast of Sumatra, Indonesia in the Java Sea. It covers 4,800.6 km2 (1,853.5 sq mi), and had a population of 309,097 at the 2020 Census. Administratively, it forms two regencies within the province of Bangka-Belitung Islands. The island is known for its pepper and for its tin. It was in the possession of the United Kingdom from 1812 until Britain ceded control of the island to the Netherlands in the Anglo-Dutch Treaty of 1824. Its main town is Tanjung Pandan. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization has declared 17 tourist attractions in the Belitung Geopark as world geoparks.
Soekarno–Hatta International Airport, abbreviated SHIA or Soetta, formerly legally called Jakarta Cengkareng Airport, is the primary airport serving the Jakarta metropolitan area on the island of Java in Indonesia. Named after the first president and vice-president of Indonesia, Sukarno (1901–1970) and Mohammad Hatta (1902–1980), the airport is located at Benda, Tangerang and Cengkareng, West Jakarta, which is about 20 km northwest of Central Jakarta. Together with Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport, they served over 80 million passengers in 2019.
The Jakarta metropolitan area or Greater Jakarta, known locally as Jabodetabek, and sometimes extended to Jabodetabekjur, or Jabodetabekpunjur, is the most populous metropolitan area in Indonesia. It includes the national capital as well as five satellite cities and three complete regencies. The original term "Jabotabek" dated from the late 1970s and was revised to "Jabodetabek" in 1999 when "De" was inserted into the name following its formation. The term "Jabodetabekjur" or "Jabodetabekpunjur" was legalised on the Presidential Regulation Number 54 of 2008, although the name Jabodetabek is more commonly used.
Tangerang is a city in the province of Banten, Indonesia. Located on the western border of Jakarta, it is the third largest urban centre in the Greater Jakarta metropolitan area after Jakarta and Bekasi; the sixth largest city proper in the nation; and the largest city in Banten province. It has an area of 164.55 square kilometres and an official 2010 Census population of 1,798,601, which had risen to 1,895,486 at the 2020 Census. – making it the eighth most populated suburb in the world at the latter date; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 1,911,914. It has not only functioned as a dormitory city, as there are many industrial areas such as Jatake, and several business districts, including CBD Alam Sutera in the area. Located just next to Jakarta on the west with many road access and improved infrastructure, such as new toll road, it is one of the favorite location for property seekers and investors in the Bodetabek area.
Bekasi is a city in West Java, Indonesia, located on the eastern border of Jakarta. It serves as a commuter city within the Jakarta metropolitan area. According to the 2020 Census by Statistics Indonesia (BPS), Bekasi had 2,543,676 inhabitants. The official estimate for mid 2021 was 2,564,940. It lies within the largest metropolitan area in Indonesia (Jabodetabek). The city is bordered by Bekasi Regency to the north and the east, Bogor Regency and Depok to the south, and East Jakarta to the west.

Tangerang Regency is a regency of Banten province, Indonesia. It is located on the island of Java. The current regent is Ahmed Zaki Iskandar. Though commonly misunderstood as being a part of Jakarta, Tangerang is actually outside Jakarta City but is part of Greater Jakarta. Since 1993, the regency has lost territory as first Tangerang city was split off on 27 February 1993 and subsequently South Tangerang city was split off on 29 October 2008. The residual Regency now has an area of 959.61 km2 and a population of 2,834,376 at the 2010 census, growing to 3,245,619 at the 2020 census; the latest official estimate is 3,293,533 Tigaraksa is the regency seat.
Makasar is a district (kecamatan) of East Jakarta, Indonesia. It had an area of 21.85 km2 and population of 185,830 at the 2010 Census; the latest official estimate is 204,595.
Karawang Regency is a regency (kabupaten) of West Java, Indonesia. The town of Karawang is its administrative centre. The regency covers an area of 1,753.27 km2 and had a population of 2,127,791 people at the 2010 Census, which grew to 2,361,019 at the 2020 Census. The official estimate for mid 2021 was 2,406,900 for a density of 1,372.8 people per km2. The regency borders Bekasi and Bogor regencies in the west, the Java Sea in the north, Subang Regency in the east, Purwakarta Regency in the southeast, and Cianjur Regency in the south. The regency lies on the eastern outskirts of Metropolitan Jakarta, just outside the Jabodetabek region, and is the site of industrial activity.
Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport is an international airport in Jakarta, Indonesia. The airport is located in East Jakarta and the airfield is conjoined with the Halim Perdanakusuma air force base of the Indonesian Air Force.
Sorong Regency is a regency of Southwest Papua province of Indonesia. It covers an area of 13,075.28 km2, and had a population of 70,619 at the 2010 Census, and 118,679 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 121,963. Its administrative centre is the town of Aimas. Sorong Regency surrounds Sorong City (Kota) on the landward side; the city is administratively independent of the Regency; Sorong City has an airport, Sorong Airport, which also serves the Regency.
Belitung Regency is a regency (kabupaten) of Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Indonesia, with the town of Tanjung Pandan as the regency seat. It formerly covered the whole of Belitung island, but subsequently the eastern districts on the island have been cut out to create a new East Belitung Regency. The regency now covers an area of 2,293.69 km2, and had a population of 156,765 at the 2010 Census and 182,079 at the 2020 Census.
Ciputat is a district in the city of South Tangerang, Banten, Indonesia and is inside the Greater Jakarta metropolitan area. It covers an area of 18.38 km2 and its population at the 2020 Census was 208,722.
South Tangerang is a city in the province of Banten, Indonesia. Located 30 km (19 mi) on the southwestern border of Jakarta, the city forms part of the Greater Jakarta metropolitan area. It was administratively separated from Tangerang Regency on November 26, 2008. According to the 2020 Census, the city population was 1,354,350 inhabitants, while the official estimarte as at mid 2021 was 1,365,688. The total area is 147.19 km2 (56.83 sq mi). It's the second-largest city in Banten in terms of population, and has grown rapidly, not only as Jakarta's satellite city, but also the development of business districts and commerce due to presence of large-scale planned town by private developers.
East Sumba Regency is geographically the largest of the four regencies which divide the island of Sumba, within East Nusa Tenggara Province of Indonesia. It occupies 64% of the entire island, being much less densely populated than the western third. The town of Waingapu is the capital of East Sumba Regency. The population of East Sumba Regency was 227,732 at the 2010 Census and 244,820 at the 2020 Census, comprising 125,967 male and 118,853 female; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 246,618.
East Lombok Regency is a regency of the Indonesian Province of West Nusa Tenggara. It is located on the island of Lombok, of which it comprises the eastern third ; the administrative capital is the town of Selong. The Regency covers an area of 1,605.55 km2 and had a population of 1,105,582 at the 2010 Census and 1,325,240 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 1,343,901.
Soekarno–Hatta Airport Railink is an airport rail link service in Greater Jakarta, Indonesia. This airport rail link was built to cut travel time from the Jakarta city center to the airport, as roads connecting the Soekarno–Hatta International Airport (SHIA) and Jakarta city center are frequently affected by traffic congestion.
As a metropolitan area of about 30 million people, Jakarta has a variety of transport systems. Jakarta was awarded 2021 global Sustainable Transport Award (STA) for integrated public transportation system.
