Flying Dragon Airlines was a Nepalese airline based in Nepalgunj operating domestic services out of Nepalgunj Airport.

History

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal granted Flying Dragon Airlines an air operators certificate in June 2005. [1] The airline was required to be based in Nepalgunj and carry out operations in the Mid- and Far-Western development regions. [3] [4]

Chinese aviation company China Flying Dragon Aviation, based in Harbin, owned 49% [5] of Flying Dragon Airlines. [6] [7] The airline was due to launch in September 2005, using Y-12 17-seater dual passenger/cargo aircraft. [8]

The airline's first aircraft was a Douglas DC-3, used to serve domestic routes and a handful of destinations in India. The airline acquired its first jet aircraft, Boeing 727s, in 1972. As of 13 July 2020, the airline operates a fleet of seven aircraft. Since 2013, the airline has been on the list of air carriers banned in the European Union.

Lufthansa Cargo AG is a German cargo airline and a wholly owned subsidiary of Lufthansa. It operates worldwide air freight and logistics services and is headquartered at Frankfurt Airport, the main hub of Lufthansa. Besides operating dedicated cargo planes, the company also has access to cargo capacities of 350 passenger aircraft of the Lufthansa Group.

Yeti Airlines Pvt. Ltd. is an airline based in Kathmandu, Nepal. The airline was established in May 1998 and received its Air Operators Certificate on 17 August 1998. Since 2019, Yeti Airlines is the first carbon neutral airline in Nepal and South Asia. It is the parent company of Tara Air. As of 2021, Yeti Airlines was the second largest domestic carrier in Nepal, after Buddha Air.

Cosmic Air Pvt. Ltd. was an airline based in Kathmandu, Nepal. It operated scheduled domestic and international services out of Tribhuvan International Airport. After already having been forced to temporarily suspended flights in 2005 and 2006 due to budgetary constraints, Cosmic Air ceased its operations in 2008.

Impro Airways was a helicopter airline based at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, operating chartered helicopter services.

Shree Airlines Pvt. Ltd. is an airline based in Kathmandu, Nepal, operating domestic services within Nepal, including chartered helicopter flights. The airline operates scheduled flights and air charter services with a fleet of STOL aircraft, previously provided by Yeti Airlines. Its operations focus on serving remote and mountainous airports and airstrips. Tara's fleet is made up of Dornier 228, DHC-6 and PC-6. Tara Air has been considered one of the "most unsafe airlines" due to several significant incidents.

Simrik Airlines Pvt. Ltd. was an airline based in Kathmandu, Nepal operating domestic scheduled flights from its base at Tribhuvan International Airport. It was the partner company of Simrik Air, a Nepalese helicopter airline operating four helicopters. It ceased operations in 2021, when it was rebranded as Guna Airlines.

Summit Air, formerly known as Goma Air, is an airline based in Kathmandu, Nepal. The airline operates from short takeoff and landing airstrips in the Western parts of Nepal. The airline received the first of two Let 410 aircraft, financed by the Czech Republic Export Bank., in October 2014, and initially only used them on flights to Lukla and Jomsom.

Air Kasthamandap Pvt. Ltd. was an airline based in Nepal which started operations in 2009. It had its headquarters in Kathmandu and operated scheduled and charter flights and cargo flights in Western Nepal.
