Flying Star Cafe is a privately owned and operated cafe restaurant chain in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA.
Flying Star Cafe first location was opened in 1987 on Central Avenue in the Nob Hill area of Albuquerque, near the University of New Mexico campus. At the time it was named Double Rainbow, as it was a franchisee of the San Francisco ice cream chain of the same name. [1] The two businesses entered into an agreement regarding the common use of the name, but eventually the Albuquerque location wanted to branch out into food restaurants and the agreement was revisited; as a result, Double Rainbow in Albuquerque changed their name to Flying Star Cafe. [2] When looking for a name, they went over 300 different choices, and ultimately the name Flying Star came from a Chinese Firecracker Magazine.
As Double Rainbow, they opened up two more locations. One is located in the Northeast Heights of Albuquerque on Juan Tabo Boulevard, opening in 1995. The third location, opened in 2000, is located near the Uptown area of Albuquerque, on Menaul Boulevard. The name change from Double Rainbow to Flying Star occurred when the fourth location opened in 2001, in the North Rio Grande Valley. This location features a horse hitching post, allowing customers to visit Flying Star on horseback. This location also has a large Petio — an outdoor area where patrons can eat alongside their pets. The fifth location opened in 2005, in the Downtown Albuquerque area. This building now offered yet another new feature — a conference room for downtown business lunches. In 2006, another location opened in Corrales, and in 2007, another Northeast Heights location opened off of Paseo del Norte. In 2008, Flying Star expanded outside the city limits, opening their first location in Bernalillo. The following year, Flying Star opened yet another store in the Railyard district of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Since 1987, Flying Star has now expanded to seven locations in Albuquerque, with four more locations in Bernalillo, Corrales, and Santa Fe. [3] The Downtown Albuquerque location is housed in the former Southern Union Gas Company Building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. [4]

The New Mexico Rail Runner Express is a commuter rail system serving the metropolitan areas of Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico. It is administered by the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) and the Rio Metro Regional Transit District, a regional transportation agency, while Herzog Transit Services currently holds the contract for the operation and maintenance of the line & equipment. Phase I of the system, operating on an existing right-of-way from Belen to Bernalillo that NMDOT purchased from BNSF Railway, opened in July 2006. Phase II, the extension of the line to Santa Fe, opened in December 2008. Daily ridership, as of February 2019, was 2,200 trips per day. In 2022, the system had a ridership of 439,200, or about 2,700 per weekday as of the third quarter of 2023.
Old Town is the historic original town site of Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the provincial kingdom of Santa Fe de Nuevo México, established in 1706 by New Mexico governor Francisco Cuervo y Valdés. It is listed on the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties as the Old Albuquerque Historic District, and is protected by a special historic zoning designation by the city. However, prior to its establishment as a city in the Santa Fe de Nuevo México province, many indigenous tribes lived there including Diné, Pueblo, Apache, Tiwa, and others. The present-day district contains about ten blocks of historic adobe buildings surrounding Old Town Plaza. On the plaza's north side stands San Felipe de Neri Church, a Spanish colonial church constructed in 1793.

The Metropolitan Courthouse is a courthouse in downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico, housing the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court. The building is located on the northwest corner of 4th Street and Lomas Boulevard in an area known as the Courthouse District. The courthouse rises 175 feet (53 m) and has nine stories. Designed by DCSW Architects in a contemporary Art Deco style, it features a three-story rotunda finished with granite, marble, and travertine and a 36-foot (11 m) sculpture of the scales of justice.
Winrock Town Center is an open-air mixed-use development under construction in Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States. The center is anchored by two Dillard's locations and a Regal 16-screen IMAX and RPX Theatre. The town center is located on the site of the original Winrock Shopping Center, which opened in 1961 as the first regional shopping mall in New Mexico.
New Mexico State Road 423 (NM 423) is a 17.0-mile-long (27.4 km) state highway entirely within Bernalillo County, New Mexico. For its entire length, NM-423 is signed as Paseo del Norte in Albuquerque.
State Road 347 (NM 347) is a partially completed road that starts at Interstate 40 on the West Mesa, approximately 8 miles (12.9 km) west of downtown Albuquerque. It runs north-northeast, following Paseo del Volcan to its northern terminus at US-550 in Bernalillo. Currently it exists in two discontinuous segments: the southern segment is 9.4 miles (15.1 km) long, and follows Paseo del Volcan from I-40 to Paseo del Norte near Double Eagle II Airport. The 10.2 miles (16.4 km) northern section begins at Unser Boulevard in Rio Rancho and ends at US-550 in Bernalillo, which incorporates a 3.4 mile extension of Paseo del Volcan from Iris Road to US-550 that was completed in February 2011. The remaining 10 miles (16.1 km) segment from Paseo del Norte to Unser Boulevard is not yet built. While the New Mexico Department of Transportation owns the right-of-way for the unbuilt section, its completion is contingent upon future growth within Albuquerque and Rio Rancho and the availability of funding.
