Founded in 1836, it is a deep-water port to the Gulf of Mexico.

Oak Forest was a settlement in Gonzales County, Texas five miles west of Gonzales. Oak Forest was situated along modern Farm Road 90A and CR 143 adjacent to the Guadalupe River and due South of the modern Palmetto State Park. Formerly, the location of a mill and later re-purposed as a power dam, it failed in 1935 during a flood and was later rebuilt. There is still an operating hydroelectric dam and a small reservoir called MA Wade Dam near the site. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had an estimated population 25 in 2000.
Little Cypress is a large unincorporated community in the northern area of Orange, Texas. It is part of the Beaumont–Port Arthur Metropolitan Statistical Area. The settlement was probably named for nearby Little Cypress Bayou and began sometime after the Civil War when the first school was built. The first census figures for Little Cypress were available in 1990, when the town reported 1,050 residents. The area is not an official town, nor has it ever been, but is a part of the city of Orange.
Orangefield is an unincorporated community located in Orange County, Texas, in the Beaumont-Port Arthur metropolitan area, about twelve miles east of Beaumont in Orange County, Texas, United States.. In 1913, the town began to develop around the oilfield just west of Orange, and its name was derived from being called the "Orange Oil Field" which was later shorted to "Orangefield". After a major producing well was discovered in August 1913, a post office was established for Orangefield in 1922.
Echo, Texas is a populated place which was founded in 1880. The Louisiana Western Extension Railroad Company was given the task of completing the last section of the Texas and New Orleans Railroad crossing the Sabine River, linking Houston with New Orleans. The swampland directly east of Orange was considered unsuitable for the railway construction, so the company pushed the line to the north and east and established a quarantine station. The site was given the name Echo, because the sounds of the railway reverberated in the nearby river swamp. Years later, the quarantine station would be removed, but this site located three miles northeast of Orange would still function as a freight yard for the Southern Pacific Railroad as well as an industrial site. In 1965, Echo would also be the construction starting point for the Sabine River and Northern Railroad, which would link the Southern Pacific to the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway servicing the timber industry of the region.
