God Forbid is an American metalcore band formed in East Brunswick, New Jersey in 1996. Initially breaking up in 2013, they have been semi-active since reuniting in 2022.
Building up a following in the late 1990s by touring with bands such as GWAR, Nile, Cradle of Filth and Candiria, God Forbid's first full album Reject the Sickness was released by 9volt Industries in 1999. [1] This album received heavy rotation from WSOU-FM in the New York City area and the band was subsequently signed to Century Media Records, releasing the album Determination in 2001. [1] They played on the MTV2 Headbangers Ball tour with Shadows Fall and Lamb of God. [2]
In 2004, they released Gone Forever , which, along with a slot on Ozzfest's second-stage, increased their profile considerably. [2] The next year, they released IV: Constitution of Treason , a concept album about the end of the world. [3] It was their first album to enter the Billboard 200, debuting at number 118. [3] In 2005 and 2006, they supported Trivium on their UK tour along with Mendeed and Bloodsimple. [4] [5] In late 2006 and early 2007, they headlined the Chains of Humanity tour. [6]
In 2007, God Forbid's "To the Fallen Hero" won the Independent Music Award for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Song. [7] They released a DVD on June 10, 2008, and their fifth studio album, Earthsblood , was released on February 24, 2009, and landed at number 110 on the Billboard 200. [8] God Forbid toured across the United States and Canada in the No Fear Energy Music Tour featuring Lamb of God and others in April. [9]
In March 2009, Dallas Coyle left the band. [10] His replacement for the upcoming tour was named as former Darkest Hour guitarist Kris Norris. [11] He was later replaced by Matt Wicklund. In July 2009, God Forbid participated in the Rockstar Mayhem Festival along with Trivium, Bullet for My Valentine, Cannibal Corpse, All That Remains, Slayer, Marilyn Manson and many others.
In April 2010, the band issued an update that they started work on a new album. [12] The new album is titled Equilibrium [13] and was released on March 26, 2012.
From July 13 to August 28, 2012, God Forbid took part in Metal Hammer's "Trespass America Festival" headlined by Five Finger Death Punch with additional support from Battlecross, Emmure, Pop Evil, Trivium and Killswitch Engage. [14]
In late 2012, the band co-headlined the Party To The Apocalypse 2012 tour with Shadows Fall starring Thy Will Be Done and Trumpet The Harlot. [15]
On August 16, 2013, Doc Coyle posted on his personal website that he has chosen to leave God Forbid. Following this, Corey Pierce had said that the band is no more by a post on his Facebook page "No more suspense, God Forbid is over. Sorry". Right after this, Byron Davis had posted on his Facebook page "It's Friday and my boy is home doing well and yes it's true GF is down. We are a family for the most part some move on while others keep it real like before the band began. I should feel sad but I don't right now because a new chapter has begun. I'll be seeing you all around somewhere. Believe that. Uncle Corey J needs some drums I have a guitar too for him. Blabbering".
During the hiatus, Doc Coyle joined Bad Wolves.
In March 2022, the band announced they would be reuniting for the 2022 Blue Ridge Rock Festival in September, making it the first time in nine years the band will perform. [16] Four months later, it was announced former As I Lay Dying guitarist Nick Hipa would be performing with the band for their reunion show. [17] Doc clarified in an interview after the Blue Ridge show that God Forbid was not returning to being a "full-time thing", but they would go on to play two dates in January 2023 at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey and the Worcester Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts. God Forbid has been primarily described as metalcore [19] and thrash metal. [20] [19] [21] They are part of the new wave of American heavy metal. [22]
Lamb of God is an American heavy metal band from Richmond, Virginia. Formed in 1994 as Burn the Priest, the group consists of bassist John Campbell, vocalist Randy Blythe, guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler, and drummer Art Cruz. The band is considered a significant member of the new wave of American heavy metal movement.
Sevendust is an American heavy metal band from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 1994 by bassist Vince Hornsby, drummer Morgan Rose and guitarist John Connolly. After their first demo, lead vocalist Lajon Witherspoon and guitarist Clint Lowery joined the group. Following a few name changes, the members settled on the name Sevendust and released their self-titled debut album on April 15, 1997, which sold only 310 copies in its first week but ultimately achieved gold certification through touring and support from their label, TVT Records.
Testament is an American thrash metal band from Berkeley, California. Formed in 1983 under the name Legacy, the band's current lineup comprises rhythm guitarist Eric Peterson, lead vocalist Chuck Billy, lead guitarist Alex Skolnick, bassist Steve Di Giorgio and drummer Chris Dovas. Testament has experienced many lineup changes over the years, with Peterson being the only remaining original member, though they have since reunited with Skolnick, who had been out of the band from 1992 to 2005. Billy has been a member of Testament since 1986, when he replaced original singer Steve "Zetro" Souza, who had left to replace Paul Baloff in Exodus. He and Peterson are the only members to appear on all of Testament's studio albums, with the latter being the only constant member overall. Stone Sour was an American rock band formed in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1992. The band performed for five years before disbanding in 1997. They reunited in 2000 and since 2015, the group has consisted of Corey Taylor, Josh Rand (guitar), Christian Martucci (guitar), Johny Chow (bass) and Roy Mayorga (drums). Longtime members Joel Ekman and Shawn Economaki left the band in 2006 and 2011, respectively. Former lead guitarist Jim Root left in 2014. The band has been on an indefinite hiatus since 2020.

He was also the lead vocalist for the band Capharnaum, along with Trivium's former producer Jason Suecof. In 2017, Heafy was voted sixth on the Ultimate Guitar list "Top 25 Greatest Modern Frontmen".
IV: Constitution of Treason is the fourth full-length studio album by the New Jersey heavy metal quintet God Forbid. It is a concept album telling the story of a futuristic society that destroys itself, reforms many years later, and eventually destroys itself again in the same way as originally. The band's guitarist has said that the album's basic theme is the fact that humanity in general does not seem to learn from its mistakes. Three music videos were released from this album for the tracks "The End of the World", "Chains of Humanity" and "To the Fallen Hero". There is a special edition DualDisc version of this album, with a DVD documentary about the making of IV: Constitution of Treason entitled "The Act of Treason". This is the first album to chart, peaking at number 118 on the Billboard 200 selling 8,300 copies.
Jason Suecof is an American record producer, audio engineer and guitarist best known for his work with heavy metal bands such as Trivium, Battlecross, Death Angel, All That Remains, Bury Your Dead, The Black Dahlia Murder, and The Autumn Offering. In addition, Suecof also has been the guitarist for heavy metal bands Capharnaum and Charred Walls of the Damned.
Kris Norris is an American musician. He is a former lead guitarist for heavy metal bands Scar the Martyr, Darkest Hour and Canadian metalcore band Threat Signal. He is also known for his stints as touring guitarist for God Forbid and Straight Line Stitch. Kris released a solo record "Icons of the Illogical" with The Kris Norris Projekt on Magna Carta Records in early 2009.
Sickness and Misery is an album by God Forbid. It is a combination of their first album, Reject the Sickness, and their first EP, Out of Misery.

Earthsblood is the fifth studio album by the American heavy metal band God Forbid. It was released in 2009, on February 16 in Europe and February 24 in North America, through Century Media Records. The album was produced by Eric Rachel with Christian Olde Wolbers handling all vocal tracking. The mixing was by Jens Bogren, and the artwork was by Gustavo Sazes. This is the last God Forbid album with rhythm guitarist Dallas Coyle. The song "Empire of the Gun" is a downloadable track for the video game Rock Band.
The Eternal Return is the sixth studio album by American melodic death metal band Darkest Hour released on June 23, 2009 through Victory Records. The album was produced by Brian McTernan who had previously produced Darkest Hour's debut album The Mark of the Judas in 2000. The album fulfilled the band's contract with Victory, making it their last release through the label.

The Autumn Offering later signed to Victory Records in 2005 and released four studio albums before ceasing activity in 2010.

Thomas Cummings, better known under the stage name Tommy Vext, is an American heavy metal singer known as the former lead vocalist of Bad Wolves, Divine Heresy, and Westfield Massacre. As a solo act, he goes by The Lone Wolf.
Bad Wolves is an American heavy metal band formed in 2017. Initially finding fame from their first single, a cover of the Cranberries' 1994 hit "Zombie", the band proceeded to find further success with a number of songs topping the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart, including "Remember When", "Killing Me Slowly", and "Sober". The band has released three studio albums, Disobey (2018), N.A.T.I.O.N. (2019) and Dear Monsters (2021). In January 2021, original lead vocalist Tommy Vext left the band and was replaced by Daniel "DL" Laskiewicz. Tensions ensued between Vext and the band, resulting in legal proceedings including Better Noise Music.
