The structure at 710 Harrison Avenue in Leadville, Colorado that currently houses the Golden Burro Cafe and Lounge was built for commercial purposes in 1898 by E.H. Dimick.
In 1934, Roy Pray opened Roy's Lunch restaurant at 614 Harrison Avenue. The business was purchased by Charlie Frey in 1938. Frey renamed the restaurant the Golden Burro and moved operations to their current location in 1945. The building was renovated in 1958 as Frey expanded the restaurant to incorporate the Brass Ass Saloon. [2]
In April 2021, the establishment was purchased by Marcee and Dan Lundeen, who adopted a vegan menu for the restaurant and initiated a historic preservation process on the building alongside the Colorado State Historical Register, the National Historical Register, and Colorado Main Street. The following year, the owners received a $40,000 grant to fund preservation efforts from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and American Express Backing Historic Small Restaurants Grant Program. The Golden Burro was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2023. [3] [4] [1] The Lundeens later leased to the building to local businessmen Armando and Fernando López. Under their direction, the restaurant's menu shifted more towards Mexican cuisine, but the sign and other features were still preserved. [5]

The Leadville Historic District is in the mining town of Leadville, Colorado. The National Historic Landmark District includes 67 mines in the mining district east of the city up to the 12,000 foot level, and a defined portion of the village area. It was designated in 1961. Then, when the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) program was started in 1966, Leadville's National Historic District was included in its first day's listings, along with all other existing National Historic Landmarks. The NRHP district was later expanded, adding a number of structures along the Harrison Avenue corridor, and making them eligible for historic preservation grants and tax subsidies, too.

The oldest McDonald's restaurant is a drive-up hamburger stand at 10207 Lakewood Boulevard at Florence Avenue in Downey, California, United States. It was the third McDonald's restaurant and opened on August 18, 1953. It was also the second restaurant franchised by Richard and Maurice McDonald, before the involvement of Ray Kroc in the company. Vicksburg was a town and mining camp in Chaffee County, Colorado, high in Clear Creek Canyon. It is now effectively a ghost town, although some of the buildings may be seasonally occupied by their owners. The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977 ; a part of the town is maintained by the Chaffee County Historical Society as a museum. Four miles farther up the same road on which Vicksburg is located is another old mining camp named Winfield.
John James Huddart (1856–1930), known usually as John J. Huddart, was a British born and trained architect who practised out of Denver, Colorado in the United States. At the end of the Nineteenth century he was one of Denver's leading architects, known for his work on public buildings and as a courthouse architect. His practice lasted from 1882 to 1930 and commissions included Charles Boettcher House in Denver, Colorado's Fort Morgan State Armory, Denver's Filbeck Building, and six of Colorado's county courthouses.

5 West 54th Street is a commercial building in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York City. It is along 54th Street's northern sidewalk between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue. The four-story building was designed by R. H. Robertson in the Italian Renaissance Revival style and was constructed between 1897 and 1899 as a private residence. It is the easternmost of five consecutive townhouses erected along the same city block during the 1890s, the others being 7, 11, 13 and 15 West 54th Street. The first floor is clad with rusticated blocks of limestone, while the other floors contain buff-colored brick trimmed with limestone.

Sade's, is a historic Tudor-style English cottage in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. It was designed and constructed by Lee Gottfried in 1925, for novelist and dramatist Harry Leon Wilson and his wife Helen MacGowan Cooke as a flower shop and dress shop. In the 1930s, Sade was a former Ziegfeld Follies dancer, made the lower level into a restaurant and Bohemian bar. It continues to be a restaurant with outdoor seating.
The La Playa Hotel, also known as the "Grande Dame of Carmel," is a historic two-story hotel in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, once owned by artist Chris Jorgensen. The building is an example of Mediterranean Revival architecture. The building qualified as an important commercial building and was registered with the California Register of Historical Resources on September 21, 2002.
Robert R. Jones was an American architect in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California best known for his Modern architecture. Jones designed numerous residences and commercial buildings in the Monterey Peninsula. In the post-war period, he emerged as a prominent figure among architects and designers who played a pivotal role in shaping Carmel's modernist landscape from the middle 20th century onward. His was known for his design aesthetic that was a Modern architecture-style, combined with elements from the Second Bay Tradition. His creation, the Monterey Airport Administration building, was honored with a design award by the Smithsonian Institution.
