Haissam Hussain is a Pakistani television and film director known for television serials such as Noorpur Ki Rani (2009), Akbari Asghari (2011), Durr-e-Shehwar (2012) and Aunn Zara (2013). [1] [2] [3] He made his cinematic debut by directing romantic-comedy Balu Mahi (2017). [4] [5]

Personal life

Hussain was born to a Muslim family in Lahore, Pakistan. He has studied at a handful of universities, including the Army Burn Hall College in 1992, Punjab University in 1996, West Herts College in 2002 and Middlesex University in 2006. [6] He directed his first telefilm Beetay Pal in 2007. He is married and the couple has 2 daughters and one son. [7]

Career

Hussain got fame with television serial Noorpur Ki Rani . He then directed romamce Ishq Gumshuda , period-romance Dastaan , social domestic-drama Durr-e-Shehwar , coming of age Aik Nayee Cinderella , dark humour Akbari Asghari and romantic comedy Aunn Zara .

In 2017, he ventured into cinema by directing romantic comedy Balu Mahi . [4] [8] He also directed small part of Bin Roye and then left it due to unknown reasons. [9]

In 2021, Hussain debut as a producer and made television comeback by directing political-period drama Jo Bichar Gaye . [10]

First broadcast in Pakistan by Hum TV, Durr-e-Shehwar premiered on 10 March 2012 and was produced by Momina Duraid and Six Sigma Entertainment. The series featured an ensemble cast of Sanam Baloch, Samina Peerzada, Qavi Khan, Meekal Zulfiqar, Noman Ejaz, and Nadia Jamil in lead roles. It ended its run on 16 June 2012, after airing 15 episodes.

Momina Duraid is a Pakistani director and producer. She is a senior producer and creative head of television network Hum TV and CEO of her own production company MD Productions. Faiza Iftikhar is a Pakistani writer, author, novelist and screenwriter. She is active in the Pakistani television industry and known for her romantic and social plays. Her popular plays include Dil Lagi, Aunn Zara, Ranjha Ranjha Kardi etc. Her writing for Ranjha Ranjha Kardi earned her Lux Style Award of Best TV Writer. Her recent projects are Bandhay Aik Dor Say, Pehli Si Muhabbat and Prem Gali. Furthermore, she wrote the screenplay of Lollywood movie Tich Button.

<i>Jo Bichar Gaye</i> Pakistani TV series or programme

Jo Bichar Gaye is a Pakistani historical drama television series based on the book "Bichar Gaye" by Col. Z. I. Farrukh. The series is directed and produced by Haissam Hussain under his banner H2 Films, Mehreen Alam as co-writer for screenplay and written by Ali Moeen. It features Wahaj Ali, Maya Ali and Talha Chahour in leading roles. Set in 1970 and 1971, Jo Bichar Gaye is based on Bangladesh Liberation War, including the fall of Dhaka. It premiered on Geo Entertainment on 12 December 2021 and aired weekly. The show ended on 13 March 2022 with 14 episodes.
