The Honda Civic Type R TCR is a racing car built on the basis of the TCR rules established in 2015, which is included in the World Touring Car Cup under the direction of the FIA. In 2019 and 2020, it won the TCR Model of the Year award, which is given for the most successful car in the category across a year. [1] [2]
The first Civic Type R TCR was built on the ninth generation Honda Civic and debuted in the TCR International Series in 2015, until the end of 2017, including Gianni Morbidelli, Roberto Colciago and Attila Tassi racing with machines developed by JAS Motorsport, the last two riders fought for the individual championship title (as a teammate) in the 2017 season, with Tassi finishing in second place behind Jean-Karl Vernay, while Colciago finished fifth in the overall standings, their team won by the teams led by Norbert Michelisz and David Bári. [3] In the ADAC TCR Germany Touring Car Championship, British driver Josh Files won an individual championship for the model in 2017.
The thoroughly wrinkled version introduced in 2017 is already based on the street version of the tenth generation Civic - which later set a lap record on the Nürburgring Nordschleife [4] - but has been modified at several points on the street model body to reduce air resistance and greater clamping force. el. A new multi-link rear suspension and modified stabilizer have been used, a state-of-the-art electronic control unit (ECU) and an improved roll bar have been installed. [5] An endurance version of the car was also made for customers in long-distance races, this edition was equipped with headlights and an air intake system to cool the driver, as well as brakes complete with ABS. [6] The new model has 340 horsepower and a maximum torque of 420 Nm. [7]
The model began selling to customer teams on 15 December 2017. For the year 2018, a total of 25 copies of the new model were available (this number was already 133 on 18 December 2019). [8]
The third Civic Type R TCR was built on the eleventh generation Honda Civic and made its global debut in TCR UK Touring Car Championship in 2023. The car utilizes a new aerodynamic system and exterior system, a new chassis, upgraded braking and transmission systems. [9]

The ninth-generation Honda Civic is a range of compact cars (C-segment) manufactured by Honda between 2011 and 2017, replacing the eighth-generation Civic. It was launched in the North American market in April 2011, Europe in February 2012 and Asia-Pacific in early 2012. Four body styles were introduced throughout its production run, which are sedan, coupe, hatchback and a station wagon version marketed as the Civic Tourer. The latter two makes up for the European-market Civic range, which was produced in Swindon, United Kingdom, and received a completely different design and smaller exterior size. JAS Motorsport is an Italian motor racing team and an engineering and manufacturing company. It was founded in 1995 by Paolo Jasson, Maurizio Ambrogetti and Giorgio Schon. The company initially competed with Alfa Romeo in 1996 and 1997. Since 1998, they have been an official partner of Honda, and have developed, built and raced cars in various different disciplines for the Japanese manufacturer, as well as provided customer racing services.

The 2018 FIA World Touring Car Cup was the inaugural season of the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR). It took over from the World Touring Car Championship and adopted the TCR technical regulations. It was also the 14th overall season of the series that dates from the 2005 World Touring Car Championship. The change of name and new rules follow the declining interest in the TC1 regulations used by the World Touring Car Championship between 2014 and 2017 and the growing interest among manufacturers in the TCR touring car category.
A TCR Touring Car is a touring car specification, first introduced in 2014 and is now employed by a multitude of series worldwide. All TCR Touring Cars are front-wheel drive cars based on 4 or 5 door production vehicles, and are powered by 1.75 to 2.0 litre turbocharged engines. While the bodyshell and suspension layout of the production vehicle is retained in a TCR car, and many models use a production gearbox, certain accommodations are made for the stresses of the racetrack including upgraded brakes and aerodynamics. Competition vehicles are subject to balance of performance (BoP) adjustments to ensure close racing between different vehicles.

The Audi RS 3 LMS TCR is a racing car built according to the TCR rule system. It is based on the Audi RS 3 sedan. It has also undergone significant widening, as well as racing spoilers have been fitted to the car, as well as the appropriate roll-over tube inside the vehicle for the necessary safety. Its engine is a two-liter, four-cylinder, turbo engine. With 330 horsepower, it accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. It is somewhat similar in design to a modern DTM car, but the TCR series and the company's goal is customer-based racing with the model, i.e. series production with the models, so they were available at a favorable price compared to a racing car for 129,000 euros. In addition to the model with sequential transmission, Audi also sells to customers a race car with a DSG transmission, which is mostly used in long-distance endurance races.
The 2022 World Touring Car Cup was the fifth and final season of the World Touring Car Cup and 18th overall of the series, which dates back to the 2005 World Touring Car Championship. The season began on 7 May at the Circuit de Pau-Ville and ended on 27 November in Jeddah Corniche Circuit, however multiple event cancellations due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and ongoing quarantine restrictions in Asia. On 1 September 2022, the organiser announced the final version of the calendar, adding Bahrain and Saudi Arabia as final venues for the 2022 season.
The Hyundai Elantra N TCR is a racing car developed by Hyundai Motorsport. It is Hyundai's third TCR car after the Hyundai i30 N TCR and the Hyundai Veloster N TCR.
