Namma Metro, also known as Bengaluru Metro, is a rapid transit system serving the city of Bengaluru, the capital city of the state of Karnataka, India. It is the second longest operational metro network in India with an operational length of 73.75 kilometers, just behind Delhi Metro. Upon its inauguration, it became the first underground metro system in South India. Namma Metro has a mix of underground, at grade, and elevated stations. Out of the 66 operational metro stations of Namma Metro as of October 2023, there are 57 elevated stations, eight underground stations and one at-grade station. The system runs on standard-gauge tracks.
Green Line of Namma Metro was built along with the Purple Line during the first phase of construction of the metro rail system for the city of Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. The 30.5 km (19.0 mi) line connects Nagasandra in the northwest to Silk Institute in the south. The line connects the industrial centers of Peenya and Yeshwanthpur in the north with the central hub of Majestic and the southern residential areas of Bangalore. Green Line is mostly elevated, with 26 elevated and 3 underground stations. The Line passes through Majestic station which is an interchange station between Green and Purple Lines.
The Pink Line of Namma Metro is under construction and will form part of the metro rail network for the city of Bangalore, Karnataka, India. The 21.25 km (13.20 mi) line connects Kalena Agrahara station on Bannerghatta Road in the south with Nagawara station on Outer Ring Road in the north. The Pink Line is mostly underground but also has a 6.98 km (4.34 mi) elevated section and a 0.48 km (0.30 mi) at-grade (surface) section. There are 18 stations on the line, including 12 underground and 6 elevated ones. Pink Line will have an interchange with the Purple Line at MG Road station. It will also have interchanges with the Yellow line at Jayadeva Hospital station and with the Blue Line at Nagawara. Both these lines are under construction. The entire line is planned to open at the end of March 2025.
The Yellow Line of Namma Metro is under construction and will form part of the metro rail network for the city of Bangalore, Karnataka, India. The 18.82 km (11.69 mi) line connects R.V. Road with Bommasandra and is fully elevated with 16 stations. R.V. Road station is the terminal station on the city side where an interchange is being provided with the Green Line. Jayadeva Hospital station will serve as another elevated interchange station with the Pink Line that is also under construction in Phase ll of Namma Metro's expansion. Upon its opening, Jayadeva Station will be the tallest and largest metro station in Bengaluru, with 5 levels of transport, including the metro lines. Central Silk Board station will be another interchange station between the Yellow Line and Blue Line. The other end of the Yellow Line will terminate at Bommasandra. The line was scheduled to open in June 2023, but due to construction delays, it was scheduled around July 2024. But now as per latest reports, the Yellow Line will be operational from November 2024. This postpone has been attributed to delay in delivery of coaches from China.
Kalena Agrahara is an upcoming elevated southern terminal metro station on the North-South corridor of the Pink Line of Namma Metro in Bangalore, India. This metro station serves residential properties and a few other locations including Prestige Elysian, Holy Spirit School (ICSE), Doddakammanahalli suburban area and Decathlon. This metro station is stated to become operational around Q4 of 2024 / March 2025.
IIMB or Indian Institute of Management Bengaluru is an upcoming elevated metro station on the North-South corridor of the Pink Line of Namma Metro in Bengaluru, India. This metro station is located opposite to the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and Fortis Hospital. It serves the nearby areas of Arekere, Bilekahalli, adjoining JP Nagar 5th Phase and Sahyadri Layout. This metro station is stated to become operational around March 2025.
JP Nagar 4th Phase is an upcoming elevated interchange metro station on the North-South corridor of the Pink Line and the ORR-West corridor of the Orange Line of Namma Metro in Bengaluru, India. This station is located near the popular Vega City Mall and serves the residential areas of BTM Layout and JP Nagar 3rd & 4th Phase. The Pink line of this station is stated to become operational after March 2025.
Tavarekere is an upcoming elevated metro station on the North-South corridor of the Pink Line of Namma Metro in Bangalore, India. Around this metro station holds the main Tavarekere Park followed by some prime locations like Byransandra Lake Park, Sagar Hospitals (Jayanagar) and the famous Dairy Circle Flyover which leads towards Nexus Mall (Koramangala) in the east and towards Lal Bagh in the west. This metro station is stated to become operational around Q4 of 2024 / March 2025.
Dairy Circle is an upcoming underground metro station on the North-South corridor of the Pink Line of Namma Metro in Bengaluru, India with plans to make an interchange with the proposed Red Line. This metro station consists of the main Dairy Circle Flyover where to the east leads towards Silk Board junction and Christ University, to the west leads towards NIMHANS Hospital, Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health Hospital, to the north leads towards Bosch, Karnataka Federal Foundation and to the south leads towards Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, a Healthcare Institute in South Bengaluru. This metro station is slated to become operational around March 2025.
Lakkasandra is an upcoming underground metro station on the North-South corridor of the Pink Line of Namma Metro in Bengaluru, India. This station serves the areas of Wilson Garden, Gajendra Nagar and Lakkasandra. This metro station is slated to become operational around March 2025.
National Military School is an upcoming underground metro station on the North-South corridor of the Pink Line of Namma Metro in Bangalore, India. This metro station consists of prime locations such as the Richmond Park, Karnataka State Hockey Association, Bengaluru Football Stadium along with other important locations like the Shoolay Circle connecting Bengaluru's Kanteerava Stadium to the west side and M G Road, Bangalore to the east side. Shivaji Nagar is an upcoming important underground metro station on the North-South corridor of the Pink Line of Namma Metro in Bangalore, India.
