The ICC Academy (ICCA) is a cricket academy located in Dubai Sports City, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, that is managed and administered by the International Cricket Council. It was opened in 2009 under Rod Marsh, who was appointed as Director.

History

ICCA's facilities includes two ovals, each with ten turf pitches, outdoor turf and synthetic practice facilities, indoor practice facilities including Hawk Eye technology and a cricket-specific gymnasium. The opening was delayed until 2009. This Academy is planned and Managed by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The two cricket grounds are installed with floodlights.

ICCA was finally opened by Sharad Pawar, President ICC, Alan Isaac, VP, ICC and members of Dubai Sports City in October 2010. [1] [2] ICCA was used for the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is the global governing body of cricket. It was founded as the Imperial Cricket Conference in 1909 by representatives from Australia, England and South Africa. It was renamed as the International Cricket Conference in 1965, and adopted its current name in 1987. The ICC has its headquarters in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The United Arab Emirates men's national cricket team is the team that represents the United Arab Emirates in international cricket. They are governed by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) which became an Affiliate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 1989 and an Associate Member the following year. Since 2005, the ICC's headquarters have been located in Dubai.

Dubai Sports City or DSC is a multi-venue sports complex in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, developed by Dubai. It is located in Al Hebiah 4. It provides a mix of residential, retail, leisure and recreational facilities. It is built around five major sports venues and features a number of sports academies. Located on Mohammad Bin Zayed Road, the residential aspect of the project consists of mid-rise apartment buildings, townhouses and villas. Sports City contains three distinct residential districts: Canal Residence, Victory Heights and Gallery Villas.

Saqlain Haider is a Pakistani-born cricketer who played for the United Arab Emirates national cricket team. He made his One Day International debut for the United Arab Emirates against Afghanistan on 2 December 2014. He made his Twenty20 International debut for the United Arab Emirates against Scotland on 4 February 2016.

Sufyan Mehmood is an Omani cricketer, who plays for the Oman national cricket team. He played in the 2014 ICC World Cricket League Division Four tournament. He made his Twenty20 International debut for Oman against Hong Kong on 26 November 2015. He made his List A debut for Oman in their three-match series against the United Arab Emirates in October 2016.

Zeeshan Maqsood is a Pakistani-born cricketer who plays for the Oman national cricket team and is the captain of the national team. He has played for the national team since 2012 and represented Oman at the 2016 and 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cups. In January 2022, Maqsood was named as the ICC Men's Associate Cricketer of the Year by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Ghulam Shabber is a Pakistani-born cricketer who played for the United Arab Emirates national cricket team. He made his List A debut for the United Arab Emirates cricket team in their three-match series against Oman in October 2016. He retired from cricket in October 2019, mid-way through the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament, and in September 2021, he was handed a four-year ban from the sport in relation to corruption.

Imran Haider is a Pakistani-born cricketer who played for the United Arab Emirates national cricket team. He made his List A debut for the United Arab Emirates cricket team in their three-match series against Oman in October 2016.

Karim Janat is an Afghan cricketer. He made his first-class debut against the England Lions on 7 December 2016. Prior to his first-class debut, he was part of Afghanistan's squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

Karthik Palaniapan Meiyappan is an Indian-born cricketer who plays for the United Arab Emirates national cricket team as a right-arm leg spin bowler. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut for the UAE in 2019 and also represented the UAE at the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Meiyappan made history being the first ever UAE player to take a hat-trick, the first UAE player to take a hat-trick in a T20 World Cup, and the first player to take a hat-trick from an ICC associate member against an ICC full member.
