The ICC Awards is an International cricket award presented annually by the sport's governing body, ICC. [1]
The first awarding ceremony was held on 7 September 2004 in London, England. Between 2009 and 2014 the awards were known as the LG ICC Awards for sponsorship reasons. [2]

In January 2021, the ICC introduced "Player of the Month" awards to recognise cricketers, male and female, that performed best across all forms of international cricket each month. Nominees and winners are determined by an ICC panel of ex-players and journalists, with a public vote having a 10% contribution to the final results. [56] [57] [58]

In December 2016, ICC Development Programme Awards were announced for the ICC's Associate and Affiliate Members aimed at creating improving structures within the 95 member federations. [60]
The judging/voting period was originally from 1 August of the current year to 31 July of the next year. It then underwent two changes and used to take place between September of the current year and September of the next year.
The ICC Selection Committee comprised eminent former players (one chairman, four other members) who selected the finalists for the Cricketer of the Year, Test Player of the Year, ODI Player of the Year and the Emerging Player of the Year, as well as the final ICC Test Team of the Year and ICC ODI Team of the Year.

The final selection for the awards were previously voted on by an academy of 56 (expanded from 50 in 2004–05), which included current national team captains of Test playing nations (10), members of the Elite panel of ICC umpires and referees (18), prominent former players and cricket correspondents (28). In the event of a tie in the voting, awards are shared.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni is an Indian professional cricketer. He is a right handed batter and a wicket-keeper. Widely regarded as one of the most prolific wicket-keeper-batsmen and captains, he represented the Indian cricket team and was the captain of the side in limited-overs formats from 2007 to 2017 and in test cricket from 2008 to 2014. Dhoni has captained the most international matches and is the most successful Indian captain. He has led India to victory in the 2011 Cricket World Cup, the 2007 ICC World Twenty20 and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, the only captain to win three different limited overs tournaments. He also led the teams that won the Asia Cup in 2010, 2016 and was a member of the title winning squad in 2018.
Rohit Gurunath Sharma is an Indian international cricketer who currently captains the India national cricket team across all formats. He is a right-handed batsman. Considered one of the best batsmen of his generation and one of the greatest opening batters of all time, Sharma is known for his timing, elegance, six-hitting abilities and leadership skills. Sharma holds several batting records which famously include most sixes in international cricket, most double centuries in ODI cricket (3), most centuries at Cricket World Cups (7) and joint most hundreds in Twenty20 Internationals (5). Rohit Sharma is the first player to score 5 T20I centuries. He plays for Mumbai Indians in IPL and for Mumbai in domestic cricket.
Virat Kohli is an Indian international cricketer and the former captain of the Indian national cricket team. He is a right-handed batsman and an occasional medium-fast bowler. He currently represents Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL and Delhi in domestic cricket. Kohli is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of all time. He holds the record as the highest run-scorer in T20I and IPL, ranks third in ODI, and stands as the fourth-highest in international cricket. He also holds the record for scoring the most centuries in ODI cricket and stands second in the list of most international centuries scored. Kohli was a key member of the Indian team that won the 2011 Cricket World Cup, 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, and captained India to win the ICC Test mace three consecutive times in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
The ICC Men's ODI Team of the Year is an honour awarded each year by the International Cricket Council. It recognizes the top cricket players from around the world in the ODI format of the game. The team does not actually compete, but exists solely as an honorary entity.
Suryakumar Yadav, also known by the initialism SKY, is an Indian international cricketer. He plays as a right-handed middle-order batter and is an occasional right-arm off break bowler. He represents the Indian cricket team and plays for Mumbai in domestic first-class cricket. Suryakumar was a member of the Indian team that finished runner~up in the 2023 Cricket World Cup. He was a part of the Indian squad which won the 2023 Asia Cup. He plays for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is the No.1 T20 batsman.
The 2012 ICC Awards were held on 15 September 2012 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The ICC had been hosting ICC Awards since 2004, which were now into their ninth year. Previous events were held in London, Sydney (2005), Mumbai (2006), Johannesburg, Dubai (2008) and Bangalore (2010). The ICC awards the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy to the Cricketer of the Year, which is considered to be the most prestigious award in world cricket.

Kannur Lokesh Rahul is an Indian international cricketer. A right-handed wicket-keeping batsman, Rahul captains the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League. He is an occasional captain of India national cricket team.
Shreyas Santosh Iyer is an Indian international cricketer who plays for the Indian cricket team as a right-handed batter. He has played in all formats for the Indian team. Iyer scored a century in his debut test match and a half-century in the second innings against New Zealand in November 2021 and became the first Indian player to do so. Iyer plays for Mumbai in domestic cricket and captains Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. He played for the India Under-19 cricket team at the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He was named in the India Squad for 2023 Cricket World Cup. He was a part of the Indian squad which won the 2023 Asia Cup.
Ishan Kishan is an Indian international cricketer who plays for the Indian national cricket team as a wicket-keeper batsman. He made his international debut in March 2021 against England. He plays forJharkhand in domestic cricket. In the Indian Premier League (IPL) he plays for Mumbai Indians.
Rishabh Rajendra Pant is an Indian international cricketer who plays for the Indian cricket team as a wicket-keeper batter. Having played all formats for India, he is best known for his consistency to score runs in Test cricket. Pant plays for Delhi in domestic cricket and captains Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. He was the vice-captain of the India U-19 team that was runner-up at the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
The India cricket team toured South Africa in January and February 2018 to play three Tests, six One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. In January 2017, Cricket South Africa (CSA) revealed that this tour would replace the scheduled visit by Sri Lanka due to costs and scheduling congestion. The Test series was played for the Freedom Trophy, with South Africa winning the trophy following victories in the first two Tests. South Africa went on to win the Test series 2–1. It was the first Test series of three matches or more in which all 40 wickets fell in each match of the series. With India's win the third Test, they retained the number one place in the ICC Test Championship, taking an unassailable lead before the April 2018 cut-off date for next season's rankings.
Jemimah Jessica Rodrigues is an Indian cricketer. She is an all-rounder who plays for the Indian national women's cricket team and Mumbai women's cricket team. In addition, she also played for the Under-17 Maharashtra field hockey team.
The India cricket team toured Australia from November 2018 to January 2019 to play four Tests, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. Initially, the Test match at the Adelaide Oval was planned to be a day/night fixture, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declined the offer from Cricket Australia to play the match under lights. In April 2018, the Western Australian Cricket Association confirmed that the Perth Stadium would host its first ever Test match. During the second Test, it became the tenth venue in Australia to host a Test match.
The 2018 ICC Awards were the fifteenth edition of the ICC Awards. The voting panel took into account players' performance between 1 January 2018 and 31 December 2018. The announcement of the ICC World XI Teams, along with the winners of the men's individual ICC awards, was made on 22 January 2019. The women's awards were announced on 31 December 2018, with Smriti Mandhana winning the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Award as the Women's Cricketer of the Year. Virat Kohli became the first cricketer in history to win all three major awards.
The ICC Awards of the Decade is a one-off edition of the ICC Awards annual awards programme, aimed at celebrating the stand-out performers and moments from the past ten years of international cricket. An Awards Nominations Committee, comprising prominent cricket journalists and broadcasters from across the globe and the ICC General Manager – Cricket, have determined a shortlist of nominees for each category. For the first time the fans’ voice will be heard in selecting the winners across categories including the Sir Garfield Sobers and Rachael Heyhoe Flint Awards, which celebrate the best overall player from the men's and women's game over the past decade. The fan vote will make up 10% of the voting, while votes from an expert panel will make up the remaining 90%. The voting panel took into account players' performance between 1 January 2010 and 27 December 2019. The announcement of the ICC World XI Teams, along with the winners of the individual ICC awards, was made on 28 December 2019. Virat Kohli won Men's Cricketer of the Decade.
The New Zealand cricket team toured India in January and February 2023 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. In December 2022, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the fixtures.
Virat Kohli's senior career began when he made his debut in List A cricket, playing against Services in the Ranji One-Day Trophy, but he did not have the opportunity to bat during the match. On the international stage, he has been representing India since he was included in the ODl squad for the tour of Sri Lanka. With his national side, he won both the 2011 Cricket World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy alongiside several Asia Cups. He had previously led his side to the 2008 Under-19 Cricket World Cup ttle. In league cricket, Kohli has played for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru since the inception of the team in 2008.
