International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) was established in 1991 under the Private University Act (PUA) of 1992 (now replaced by PUA 2010) by M Alimullah Miyan. [4] The initial planning began in 1989. Degree programs started in 1992 with agreement with Assumption University of Bangkok, Thailand. IUBAT is a full member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, London, [5] and this extended formal recognition of IUBAT degrees in 35 countries or regions of the Commonwealth.[ citation needed ]

The university library has about 17,770 books, 760 journals, 2793 practicum reports, 122 cassettes and 700 DVDs and CDs. It is generally open from 8.30 am to 8.30 pm except on university holidays.
