United International University (UIU) is a private university in Dhaka, Bangladesh. [2]

Contents

The government of Bangladesh approved the establishment of United International University in 2003. [3] United International University was established with the generous support and patronage of the United Group. [4]

The permanent campus is on a 25-bigha (8.25 acre) plot of land, located at the 'United City' at Satarkul, Badda (1.5 km east of Embassy of the United States, Dhaka), adjacent to Madani Avenue. [5]

UIU Central library has a collection of 40,293 items of information materials. Among the materials, 86,200 and 12,458 are books and bound periodicals respectively. Besides, 141 titles are in the current subscription list of journals. Every year, 500 volumes are added to the main reading room of the central library.

Accreditation

As of May 2023, it is one of three Bangladeshi universities to be accredited by ACBSP. [10] The academic programs of the university are recognized by the following organizations:

Scholarships and waivers

Every Trimester 15% students get 25%-100% tuition fee waiver based on previous results and trimester results. The university provides about 10 to 12 crore taka as scholarship in every year, one of the highest amongst the private universities of Bangladesh. [13]

The university provides several scholarships to students including the eLINK and cLINK scholarships established with the support of the European Union. [14] [15]

Besides a 100% scholarship is available for talented programmers getting admission to B.Sc./M.Sc. in CSE program who took part in specific international contests or secured a position in the top 10 of National Collegiate Programming Contest (NCPC), and 75% for those who qualified for the final round of specific national contests or secured a position in the top 30 of National Collegiate Programming Contest (NCPC). Existing students who will perform on the similar level as these will also be eligible for the scholarship. [16]
