James H. Weaver was an American politician who served as the ninth Secretary of State of Alabama from 1856 to 1860.
In addition to serving as Secretary of State,he served for a term as Sheriff of Coosa County,Alabama and was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in 1853. [1]

In a rematch of the closely contested 1888 presidential election,former Democratic President Grover Cleveland defeated incumbent Republican President Benjamin Harrison. Cleveland's victory made him the first and,to date,the only person in American history to be elected to a non-consecutive second presidential term. Hamilton Fish was an American politician who served as the 16th governor of New York from 1849 to 1850,a United States senator from New York from 1851 to 1857,and the 26th U.S. secretary of state from 1869 to 1877. Fish is recognized as the pillar of Ulysses S. In 1875,Fish initiated the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom that ultimately led to statehood for Hawaii by negotiating a reciprocal trade treaty for the island nation's sugar production. He also organized a peace conference and treaty in Washington,D.C.,between South American countries and Spain. Fish worked with James Milton Turner to settle the Liberia-Grebo War in 1876. President Grant said he trusted Fish the most for political advice.

The PSC's responsibility was expanded in 1920 to include regulating and setting rates that utility companies charge their customers for electricity. The legislature expanded the PSC's responsibilities in later years to include those companies that provide gas,water,and communications,as well as transportation common carriers such as trucking and air carriers. The Alabama Christian Movement for Human Rights (ACMHR) was an American civil rights organization in Birmingham,Alabama,which coordinated boycotts and sponsored federal lawsuits aimed at dismantling segregation in Birmingham and Alabama during the civil rights movement. Fred Shuttlesworth,pastor of Bethel Baptist Church,served as president of the group from its founding in 1956 until 1969. The ACMHR's crowning moment came during the pivotal Birmingham campaign which it coordinated along with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference during the spring of 1963.
