Cultured meat,also known as cultivated meat among other names,is a form of cellular agriculture where meat is produced by culturing animal cells in vitro. Cultured meat is produced using tissue engineering techniques pioneered in regenerative medicine. Jason Matheny popularized the concept in the early 2000s after he co-authored a paper on cultured meat production and created New Harvest,the world's first non-profit organization dedicated to in-vitro meat research. Cultured meat has the potential to address the environmental impact of meat production,animal welfare,food security and human health,in addition to its potential mitigation of climate change.

The National Intelligence University (NIU) is a federally chartered research university in Bethesda,Maryland operated by and for the United States Intelligence Community (IC) as its staff college of higher learning in fields of study central to the profession of intelligence and national security. A small,highly selective non-residential university,NIU awards undergraduate and graduate degrees,a graduate certificate,and prestigious research fellowships to prepare personnel for critical positions in the IC and the broader national security enterprise. Since 1963,more than 80,000 military and civilian students have attended the university. Originally located at Defense Intelligence Agency headquarters at Joint Base Anacostia–Bolling in Washington,D.C.,NIU's primary campus is now located just up the Potomac River at Intelligence Community Campus-Bethesda (ICC-B) with four additional locations around the world.
Aggregative Contingent Estimation (ACE) was a program of the Office of Incisive Analysis (OIA) at the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA). The program ran from June 2010 until June 2015.
SciCast is a collaborative platform for science and technology forecasting created by George Mason University with the help of a grant from the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) as part of its ForeST program. SciCast is currently on hiatus,after losing its main IARPA funding. It was expected to re-open in the fall of 2015 with the support of a major Science &Technology sponsor,but this had not occurred by January 2016.

The National Strategic Computing Initiative (NSCI) is a United States initiative calling for the accelerated development of technologies for exascale supercomputers,and funding research into post-semiconductor computing. The initiative was created by an executive order issued by President Barack Obama in July 2015. Ten United States government departments and independent agencies are involved in the initiative. The initiative initially brought together existing programs,with some dedicated funding increases proposed in the Obama administration's 2017 budget request. The initiative's strategic plan was released in July 2016.
Cellular agriculture focuses on the production of agricultural products from cell cultures using a combination of biotechnology,tissue engineering,molecular biology,and synthetic biology to create and design new methods of producing proteins,fats,and tissues that would otherwise come from traditional agriculture. Most of the industry is focused on animal products such as meat,milk,and eggs,produced in cell culture rather than raising and slaughtering farmed livestock which is associated with substantial global problems of detrimental environmental impacts,animal welfare,food security and human health. Cellular agriculture is a field of the biobased economy. The most well known cellular agriculture concept is cultured meat.

Since the mid-2010s,many analysts have noted the emergence of such an arms race between global superpowers for better military AI,driven by increasing geopolitical and military tensions.
The Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET) is a think tank dedicated to policy analysis at the intersection of national and international security and emerging technologies,based at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. CSET's founding director is the former director of the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity,Jason Gaverick Matheny. Its current executive director is Dewey Murdick,former Chief Analytics Officer and Deputy Chief Scientist within the Department of Homeland Security.
The regulation of artificial intelligence is the development of public sector policies and laws for promoting and regulating artificial intelligence (AI);it is therefore related to the broader regulation of algorithms. The regulatory and policy landscape for AI is an emerging issue in jurisdictions globally,including in the European Union and in supra-national bodies like the IEEE,OECD and others. Since 2016,a wave of AI ethics guidelines have been published in order to maintain social control over the technology. Regulation is considered necessary to both encourage AI and manage associated risks. In addition to regulation,AI-deploying organizations need to play a central role in creating and deploying trustworthy AI in line with the principles of trustworthy AI,and take accountability to mitigate the risks. Regulation of AI through mechanisms such as review boards can also be seen as social means to approach the AI control problem.
Adam H. Russell is an American anthropologist who served as the acting deputy director of the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health in 2022. He is the chief scientist of the Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence and Security at the University of Maryland.
